I've had kids off school to look after and no real help. H is annoyed with me. He's barely speaking to me, crashing around the place looking for things that I've apparently lost, asking pointed questions about has such-and-such been done, when he knows I've barely been able to wash. People in the industry will do atrocious things to one another, and then duck out of sight while continuing to benefit from their position.
An excerpt from a document I posted in late 2023 about my experience being targeted by ShadyVox. It reads: Here's the thing. I'm not calling anyone out, because I don't expect to receive any response. When I went to people and asked them for help in this scenario, it became very apparent to me that the industry and the world Patrick operates within? Allows for this sort of thing. It covers itself up. It forgives itself. Victims be damned. I'm not saying people should have done more or stopped him. But the fact that I did all the right things, and asked people for help when I needed it, and all of this still happened anyway? My faith in anything resembling actual justice or even a result of any kind is shaken to its core.

Husk was not having the best day. He was...happy? That the hotel seemed to finally be attracting more guests, and that for now it seemed the possibility of extermination seemed to be lowered. But did it mean he had to be the one constantly making drink after drink for these new people? He especially was pissed at one who had dared to ask for an elaborate drink, one who had tried to grope Angel. He also had to keep placing Fat Nuggets on the floor behind the bar to keep him away from the guests (particularly the one who kept asking if "he should kill his wife"), and giving him a bowl of nuts to keep him from eating the ones on the bar. "Where the fuck's my cocktail?" an octopus demon with multiple arms already holding several drinks cried out. "It's fucking coming. Maybe finish those ones before you fucking pester me," Husk grumbled under his breath. But he took a deep one to try to ease. "Coming," he told the customer. That's when he suddenly caught sight of a mouse sinner demon sitting on the barstool, and groaned. "Look, I'm in the middle of making 20 of these things, mind waiting a second?" he asked, trying his damndest not to look annoyed. It wouldn't be a good look to get short, at least not with someone not actively getting on his nerves. "Oh no, I don't actually drink, buuuut I noticed you didn't have anyone to help pass these out, allow me!" the mouse sinner replied, quickly taking the tray. "Who do they go to?" They were talking fairly fast, a weird combination of eager yet nervous. Husk blinked. Normally he didn't like people touching his stuff at the bar, but he was really running out of space to care right now. He also took notice the sinner seemed to be part mouse, part....robot? "Uh, sure," he said, handing them the receipts. "And uh, you are?" "Oh! Esme Byrne, of up and coming tech company Byrne Inc.!" Esme said, bowing. "Pleased to make your acquaintance sir!" They quickly scurried off with the drinks. Husk blinked. "Alright, at least that's one concern out of the way," he muttered, beginning to wipe up a spill on the counter.

Oh hell nope.
My boyfriend (31M) is suddenly demanding that I (27F) stop consuming fictional media at all, what do I even do? So this is honestly one of the weirder relationship issues I've ever found myself in and I feel like I'm losing my grip on what's normal here. My boyfriend and I originally bonded over our shared love of nonfiction. We both went through this big Tudorian history phase when we first met, like deep diving into documentaries and nerding out about Henry VIII succession drama. I loved that about him, I still love that about him and I never, ever cared that he wasn't as intothe high fantasy books and shows I adored. It's just never been a requirement for me that my partner shares every interests as me. IG & Threads: @ask When it came to watching things we both would enjoy, it would be stuff like The Bear, period dramas that were on the more accurate side, gritty crime series, docuseries, etc, etc. We'd usually have good time with that but things have really changed over the past couple months. At first it was just small stuff where he'd gently decline when I asked if he wanted to watch some of the more reality-based shows we both used to enjoy. Then he started making these little comments about how fiction is a waste of time or how fantasy is "ust escapism for people who don't want to deal with real life. I brushed that off, because everyone's entitled to their tastes. But as you can see from the title, it's become more than that. IG & Threads: @ask A couple weeks ago, he started getting visibly annoyed if I put on one of my shows while he was in the room. Not even asking him to watch it with me just me watching something fictional and it was the same with books. He literally scoffed when he saw me rereading one of my favorite fantasy novels and said "I don't understand how an adult can take that seriously. What happened last night is what encouraged me make this post. I was curling up after work with a blanket and my book, and he told me that he "can't respect" the fact that I waste hours on makebelieve when there's real knowledge out there. He said fiction is rotting my brain and that he doesn't want to date someone who lives in stories instead of the real world. IG & Threads: @ask I told him that's ridiculous, I have a stable job, friends, responsibilities, I'm not ignoring reality, I just like my stories! It's relaxing! It's fun! It doesn't hurt anyone! He doubled down and said if I cared about intellectual growth, I'd stop reading and watching fictional media altogether and stick to nonfiction. I honestly thought he was exaggerating at first, but he's dead serious. He said he doesn't want that stuff in his home and that we needed to be on the same wavelength about what's worthy of our time. I told him no, absolutely not, that that's controlling and bizarre. He insists it's not controlling but rather a standard for the kind of life he wants to build. I don't know if this is burnout, depression, some weird identity crisis, something he read online, or something else entirely but it's making me uncomfortable and honestly I feel like disrespected and a bit angry. I don't know how to talk to him anymore without him acting like I'm intentionally

He didn’t understand her expression. “Yeah?” “You okay?” He shook off her concern. “I’m fine, Mae...” “You’re crying.” He gave a start. Putting a finger near his eye, he followed the damp trails down his skin. “Yeah. Well.” He stared at the captured tear on his finger for a second. Then he locked in on the cufflinks. “Was he the only one?” They didn’t seem to understand the question, and Charlie expanded: “Was Takach the only *wizard* out there? I mean, were there others? "I know I -" he can feel himself shrinking as her gaze narrows and nearly burns into his skin. "- I just, I -" "You WHAT?! I told you to END IT, Sitriini." "I - I did." He stammers unable to pull his eyes up from the floor. "It doesn't fucking look like you did with you two flirting in the halls this morning." "We weren't flirting. He asked me a question about music." "I don't care what it was about! I told you to stay away from him." "He's my friend though -" "I told you to END IT. " "I - I did." "So then you can't be friends -" "- why not?" "Because you still want him. Don't you?" His eyes fix to the floor as his shoulders sink and he sighs. He's picking at the barely grown ridge of a thumbnail on his right hand as she glares him down. "DON'T YOU?!" "Ye-yes." There is a frustrated growl that leaves her as her hand reaches out to wrap around his tie and pull. She's moving without much thought as she forces him backwards and slams him hard against the wall behind him. "You can't HAVE him!!" But orange eyes are shifting to the side to look anywhere but the burning pink that are glaring into his skin. "LOOK at me Sitriini. You CAN'T HAVE him!!!" But he wanted him. He wanted him just as much as he did the years before. Maybe more. The years without him had been hell. He didn't know how to function without being able to breathe into his kiss. There was something about being able to push his face into blue hair and breathe in the scent of him that sat his entire world back to right. He was his little shark and there wasn't a force in the universe that could change that. He doesn't know what she wants him to say because he can't agree. He can't just throw his love away. He can't just suddenly change who he's attracted to. But her hand is twisting into his tie a little tighter as she pulls him down to her level and watches it take him a moment to choke. "I don't know what I need to do to get it through your thick skull, but you can't have him. You can't have anyone else. You're mine. You're mine and you will always be mine and I will not allow you to be with anyone else." And somehow this all makes sense. Somehow this obsessive compulsive behavior all makes sense with knowing how she thinks of him as property. Thankfully his mask will stop any unwanted contact. Thankfully his mask - Her hand is raising to reach around the back of his head and his mind sets to alarm. She's pushing in the manual release buttons and forcing his mask to retract and he doesn't have the time to react before she's shoving her lips against his. It's all he can do to lift his hands and shove her away from him even if it causes her to jerk her hand on his tie hard enough to choke him all over again. Her eyes fill to the brim with anger as his own echo back in fear. He doesn't want this. He doesn't want her. He doesn't even like women. He's completely and thoroughly gay. He doesn't want her. He wants Sielu. He wants Sielu right now. He wants him to walk in on this. He wants him to see. He wants him to know what's actually going on. He wants to stop all this lying. He can't take it anymore. He just wants to lay next to him. To hold his hand. To go to that nice cozy little noodle shop again. To go to that quiet little cafe on the back end of the island so he can sit in their corner so he can watch the river while he eats cheesy fish listening to Sielu excitedly tell him about all of the newest Puffball updates. He doesn't want to lie anymore. He's not ready for the tears that have started to fall. He's even less ready for the hand that raises and slaps him across the face. He's not prepared for the way she grabs ahold of him and shoves him back against the wall. He's not ready for the way she pulls his hair and tries to force him to submit to her. He's not prepared for the way she digs her nails into his arm when she grips him. But she's not ready for him to have finally had enough. He's stronger than her and he knows it. She can't pin him unless he allows it and he swore to himself that he would never use his strength against a woman but this is entirely different. So he's shoving her off of him and making a dart for the door. Shakey hands scrambling to unlock it so he can take off down the hall. Faster than she can keep up. If he can only get to his room, he can lock the door and hide until it's safe. Safe until morning. Surely shoving her is going to come back on him later but he'll think about that later. Right now he just needs to get some place safe.

Bryan Reisberg has taken out 11 dogs on city adventures. Ten of them were adopted after his videos published.

On a recent afternoon in a New York City subway car, a white dog with brown spots peered out of a man’s backpack. The dog, named Bertha, gave him constant licks. Bertha was found on the streets in October, and was taken in by Animal Care Centers of NYC. Although she had a rough start in life, on this day, she seemed overjoyed. She welcomed neck scratches from dozens of strangers, picked out a new toy, devoured a pup cup and enjoyed a long walk. The outing led to her adoption a few days later. The man carrying her was not her owner, but a volunteer of sorts. Bryan Reisberg spends one day a week taking shelter dogs like Bertha out of their kennels, lifting them into a backpack that says “adopt me” and bringing them onto the subway and around New York. His goal is for people to see shelter dogs as he does: curious, sweet and a potential pet. “The personality on this little girl, I truly did not want to leave her,” Reisberg said of Bertha. “She was just trying to kiss and love on people.” Reisberg has a professional background in film. He shoots videos of each of the dogs he takes out for the day and shares a polished compilation on social media. Across various social platforms, the videos have more than 75 million views. So far, Reisberg has taken out 11 dogs. Ten of them were adopted after his videos published. “The primary goal of every video is to get these dogs adopted,” he said, noting that the only dog that didn’t get adopted had a medical issue that had to be resolved. Reisberg writes a fun caption to accompany each video, including some important information about the dog. In Bertha’s case, he wrote that she likes “kisses, more kisses, specific toys, hot dogs, subway rides, making frens, being held,” and added: “did I say she loves giving and receiving kisses?” Bertha’s sole dislike, according to the post: “certain stuffed animals.” “It’s crazy to me, to be able to see a real-world direct impact that you’re improving the life of another person and the life of a dog because you took a few hours to go make some content,” Reisberg said. “It’s very fulfilling.” This is not Reisberg’s first foray into content creation. In 2015, Reisberg began building a large following on social media by sharing hilarious videos of his own dog, a fluffy corgi named Maxine, whom he would bring around New York City in a backpack. At the time, Reisberg was working at a production company, directing commercials. He and his wife didn’t want to leave Maxine home alone all day, so Reisberg would take her with him to work in a doggy backpack. They got a lot of attention from fellow subway travelers. “She always had such a big smile on her face,” Reisberg said. “People would be kind of miserable, head down, and then they would see a fluffy dog and light up.” He started posting videos of their daily commutes on social media. They quickly went viral. “She was known as ‘the dog in the backpack’ all over the world,” Reisberg said. “It was crazy and totally unexpected.” He was constantly fielding questions from people about the pet carrier he was using, which he said was “poorly designed.” “I wouldn’t recommend it, because it had broken on me so many times,” he said. So, in 2020, Reisberg left his job to create a dog backpack, and in 2021, he launched Little Chonk, which makes pet gear and accessories. Through Maxine’s social media, “I was talking to people every day about how they felt about their pets, what they were missing, what they needed and what they wanted,” Reisberg said. Earlier this year, a friend gave him the idea to use Maxine’s popular social media pages to promote shelter dogs. He started doing it over the summer. “He wandered in one day and asked if he could help,” said Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society, which works with Animal Care Centers of NYC and thousands of other shelters and rescues around the country. “It was just so fortuitous because he’s got a really big reach.” Shelter workers help Reisberg select dogs to go out on his excursions, which he tries to do about once a week. The dog must be able to handle the chaos of a crowded city adventure. “It’s such a morale boost for our team,” Castle said, adding that they try to select dogs that have been in a shelter for longer than average. “When Bryan comes in and uses his channels to influence adoption, he’s a hero to these dogs and to our staff.” Castle said the impact of Reisberg’s videos was immediate — not just for the pups featured and adopted, but for other dogs associated with Best Friends Animal Society. In the past six months, “we’ve seen about 100 more dogs get adopted compared to last year … it’s been a huge game changer for us,” Castle said. “We attribute most of that to him and the power of his social media presence and how he’s showcasing these dogs.” Castle said the exposure extends beyond Best Friends Animal Society. “It reinforces the notion that shelter animals aren’t broken,” Castle said. “They’re really cool and looking for a loving home.” Flattering photography has long played a role in getting shelter dogs adopted, but Reisberg said videos can take it to another level. “Immediately, you get a feel for the dog, their personality,” Reisberg said. “I think it has really connected with people.” Best Friends recently launched an Adventure Buddy program for volunteers to take a dog out for the day. Similar programs across the country help pets get adopted, or at least temporarily out for some air. Shelters have also used comical tactics — pit bulls wearing curly wigs to make them look like doodles — on social media to get people more engaged. “There’s a lot of different things that you can do to help find these animals homes,” Castle said. “Bryan is a great example of what a single person can do, but virtually anyone can get involved.” Reisberg said he has been having the time of his life taking the pups out on adventures, and he said that anyone else inclined to do it should give it a go. He still is in awe that he’s having such an impact. “I can be a force for some good and some change here, and that’s been really empowering,” Reisberg said.

I don't think I can look at my husband the same after this fight, and I feel so much resentment now I 30F had one of the worst weeks of my life at work. Everything was chaotic, my manager was rude to me because of stress, and I had to commute 1.5 hours each way every day this week (normally only 3 days in office). I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and honestly hanging by a thread. Meanwhile, my husband 30M has a much easier situation - better job, higher salary, stable company, and only a 15-minute commute. I don't think he really understands my struggles. IG & Threads: @ask We're supposed to move apartments soon, and he had a viewing. I told him I couldn't go because of work and i was venting about it then he started blaming me, saying I don't put boundaries at work and it's my fault people treat me badly. He said he can't rely on me, even though I pay 50/50 and handle the house too and i was also applying for new apartments. The next day it escalated worse. He asked me about my work and i didnt want to talk because i dont think he'll understand so he gave me an attitude then i told him this is why that i dont feel safe venting to him anymore. Then he started responded by calling me "toxic," saying I don't know how to communicate and this is why im in these situations that I let everyone disrespect me, and that he can't take responsibility for He is a daily weed smoker and this has caused fights before when i asked him to moderate and he rejected but I stopped fighting him on it recently. I don't know if this plays a part as he was a also not feeling so good mentally and always felt kinda pressured. Although i remember when he doesn't feel good I always try to make him feel better and even accepted his daily weed smoking because he needs it although i feel I shouldn't have. The part that broke me: at the end he said, "If you were a man, I'd hit you so badly." I can't look at him the same way since. I feel so much resentment He also said that you want to live the best life here but you dont want to work and want to stay home and bills get paid for you. I was crying and overwhelmed because i worked hard my all life after my father died and never asked him or anyone for help, I known him for 14 years and stood by him in his worst when he was also without a job or transitioning then he criticized my tone and said even my voice when I cry is "traumatic" for him. He is a daily weed smoker and this has caused fights before when i asked him to moderate and he rejected but I stopped fighting him on it recently. When I was in college (1990-94), whenever we'd go out for Chinese food we always asked for the smoking section--not that we or anyone else there were smokers, but because that way we'd be away from loud children.
