10 years ago, a pair of Soundwaves aka @esino.bsky.social and me, rode Megafobia at Oakwood Theme Park, Wales. We made sure we played it straight and didn’t react as we went past the camera, because that’s how Soundwave would’ve ridden it. This photo never fails to make me snort with laughter. 😆

I'm staying on site next to the closed down Oakwood and I am within a stones throw of Megafobia.

Ughh July is usually the time I make my annual visit to Oakwood theme park and I was looking forward to another 5000 laps around Megafobia until I remember ASPRO GROUP ARE CUNTS AND SHUT AND ASSET STRIPPED THE PARK

It's interesting that this turned out so devisive, and the other Gravity Group-retracked CCI Megafobia (RIP?) was pretty beloved. I think it's the trains. Timberliners are fine on those smaller coasters, but big ones should keep the PTC's.

I'm hoping some wealthy businessperson swoops in and at least preserves the plot and the bigger rides. Megafobia and Speed deserve better than to sit there and rot.

No joke, if Oakwood is beyond saving then I'm chaining myself to Megafobia to stop them tearing it down.
I spent five of my six seasons there operating that ride, creating memories, watching people shitting it leaving the station and seeing them cracking with delight when they return. Best job ever

A real Proustian rush at the mention of Megafobia: I remember going on it when it first opened. I’ve been to Oakwood lots over the years (there’s a photo of me & my husband on Megafobia at 16) and we’ve taken the Kid a few times, but it was definitely past its prime

I went on an amusement park trip across the UK last summer. I'm happy I visited oakwood, getting Megafobia as my 300th credit, and what an awesome ride. Though I must admit, I can understand the closure if the crowds were regularly as low during the summer season as they were when I visited.
