4yrs ago today, we helped @catsprotection.bsky.social trap this tiny, hungry, limping feral kitty. He wasn't happy about staying in our spare room for a month after a vet visit.

But then he discovered duvets. And after we released him, i went for a nap. Woke up to discover he'd decided to move in.

It's international cat day, so probably time to share on here the story behind my profile picture.

The cat in it is Napoleon. This is their journey from starving feral kitty to happy house floof. And this is why rescue kitties are wonderful. /1

Here is a video of a frozen creek that had begun to thaw, and the water was flowing beneath the thin ice on top. I took this because it was soothing and wonderfully bloopy and I wanted to listen to it for hours. You are all welcome to enjoy it, too. Let your brain settle here and rest for a moment.

if Reece gets banished, he may well be the one to ditch the traditional “I’ve had an amazing time here” speech, and go “actually, this was pretty awful, didn’t have a good time at all, see you later” #TheTraitors

It’s worth mentioning, though it’s been said repeatedly: the Lizzie Line carries 1/6th of UK daily rail passengers (not including the Tube) and has already paid off its entire costs.

And if HS2 had been committed to, without plans being tweaked every 5 minutes, Phase 1 would be opening next year.

And I thought i was the only one not to watch Stranger Things.

That'll be marketing for ya, I spose.
Those latest two episodes of Stranger Things got 2.5m and 1.9m viewers in the UK on Boxing Day. #RatingsChat

I see the Brexit-backing owner of Dyson, who offshored himself and the firm for tax reasons, is moaning about having to pay tax on the extensive farmland that he bought here as a way to avoid inheritance tax.

Hang on. I'll find my violin.
I rather think what has put Dyson's "family business¹" at risk is selling fucking hugely overpriced non-essential sucky-blowy machines.

¹ Does he want us to think Dyson is like some kind of local greengrocer or something? The massive splat of jizz.

The UK has been exporting loads of its old Intercity 125s with flimsy fibreglass cabs to Cancun. Unfortunately it seems Mexico has slightly different attitude to the question “is it acceptable to have a car on a level crossing as a train approaches”, creating quite a stream of content.

If your cost-benefit model tells you it isn't worth investing in a tram or light rail system for an urban area with a population of well over 1m, like Leeds-Bradford, your model is wrong and should be thrown in the bin.

Reading over the full Special Development Order is fun because everything that Universal proposed back in July is now a *requirement* to be able to open the new theme park in the UK, including a resort capacity of up to 8.5 million visitors in year one. Excerpts below:
