That's...The Honeymooners, for god's sake.
Do they really pretend that's a modern trope?

Oh and Big Bang Theory and I have all the DVDs. Oh and Fawlty Towers, Absolutely Fabulous, The Young Ones, Vicious. Sorry I'm getting carried away. Oh and The Honeymooners.

Every time I hear his name I think of the Honeymooners Fred Merz.

The West Wing, Friday Night Lights, Star Trek TOS, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Nip/Tuck, Dexter, Treme, Boardwalk Empire. Plus I'm sure I've seen all of The Honeymooners since there were only 39 episodes made. I'm never really sure about sitcoms, if I've seen every ep or not.

people act like The Honeymooners was some kind of affront to feminism but it’s crazy watching a show from the 40’s more socially forward than your average manosphere twitter user

I love that The Honeymooners utility player George Petrie is in Baby Boom. #TCMParty #BabyBoom

I mean, we had a guy known as "Nazi cop" who was one of the highest paid officers in Portland and he honeymooners at one of Hilters retreats, played Nazi dess-up, and secretly mounted Nazi plaques in a Portland park. Portland knew all about it. He finally retired a few years ago.

Well that and how much Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbara, etc. were writing for adult audiences. The Flintstones were the Honeymooners, Looney Tunes were making references to Bogart and Bacall movies, Top Cat was barely even satire in terms of who they were portraying...

Just wait until DJT accidentally watches a Honeymooners rerun, then all will be forgiven?

I put all my money on "Alice, you're the greatest" for tonight's Honeymooners episode.

Not to take away from his message lately, but does anyone else hear in their head 'MARK CARNEY' said like the announcer for The Honeymooners reading off Art Carney's name whenever they see the words 'Mark Carney'?
Canada was founded on these choices.

Carney became famous in the 1950s for playing the sidekick to an angry blowhard on The Honeymooners but Mark Carney said I'm not doing that.
Nobody can accuse Carney of not exerting leadership.

Calling out the emperor for having no clothes has created a cascade. And it plays well domestically in these countries.

The age of pandering is mostly over.
Interesting discussion with the Finnish president in which he name checks Mark Carney at least once every 5 or 6 minutes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGTx...

But before we Sundance ... I just posted on my site an essay to start a project for 2026 ... reviewing the films of 1926.

It's Harry Langdon's SATURDAY AFTERNOON and I compare him to Mr. Roper (SEINFELD, THE HONEYMOONERS and Tsai Ming-liang also appear),

Centennial Project — Saturday Afternoon
A few weeks ago, I teased a friend about doing a 50th anniversary project, specifically watching and writing about movies from 1976. I told him “centennial or go home!” to which he repl…

Mark Carney sure has come a long way from he used to play Ed Norton in “The Honeymooners”.

That made a total of three Honeymooners shows by that point.
There really was a Dinosaur sitcom on prime time TV in the 90s.

Remember when they made a Honeymooners movie with Cedric The Entertainer and Mike Epps? It's weird because the cast is legit good and they capture the energy in the bits super well BUT it's super dragged down by having the most generic early 2000s plot of all time

Mad King Donald: “I used to like Art Carney. He was funny on ‘The Honeymooners’. But NOT ANY MORE!”

While I liked “The Honeymooners”, I stopped reading the blog of a former sitcom writer who said people were too sensitive about Ralph threatening to hit Alice “too the moon, Alice”.

It's good! But tonally it's NUTS. Half the time it's Honeymooners-level comedy, the other half it's bleak social commentary. (And I haven't mentioned the big plot twist for a reason, but it's something I didn't even think you were ALLOWED to make movies about in 1963.)

And a nice Honeymooners reference, too. 🙂
