All phenomena are fleeting. He/him. For those who don't know me from other social media sites: Waffles (Waf) is the name of our dog, not the name of my husband. [Update: Waf was. Marlowe is now our dog's name, not my husband's. Waf is now a name for love.]
And not only that but the landlord made constant homophobic jokes while winking at the camera
Added note: For people who think life was better back then, remember that this show was about a guy who had to pretend to be gay so the landlord wouldn't kick all of them out for cohabitating.

This show was wildly popular and ran until 1984.

I don't get it. Just... science up that shit. Bond's got gadgets and a whole R&D team working to assist him, so just say they cloned him, or downloaded his consciousness to a computer that is able to be uploaded into another hot actor's brain. 'And somehow, Bond returned.'
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”
Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:
“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

I'm sure this is covered in the movie, but I'm watching 'Jurassic Park: Rebirth,' and the whole macguffin driving the plot is 'we need to get blood samples from these three specific dinos for because of their genetic makeup' or something. But it turns out the dinos are MUTANT dinosaurs?

I missed most of Elon Musk's weak insults aimed at Joyce Carol Oates but I gotta say, '...an abuser of semicolons' made me laugh for a while. It's the ... before he lowers this boom that gets me; one could do worse than be an abuser of semicolons.

I agree, mostly, but I'm likely safe as I barely speak truth the those *without* power. Still, @support.bsky.team, some of the people you're removing at an alarming rate are what make the site worth being on in the first place. Wtf?
Between Link being banned and Sarah Kendzior being suspended, the people on here who have been speaking truth to power are getting erased...and that does not bode well for us all.
In a rare case of Substack notes usefulness, I just learned that Sarah Kendzior (author of They Knew and a brilliant writer) got bounced from Bluesky. What the hell? new @sarahkendzior.bsky.social

Bluesky suspended Sarah Kendzior today for no reason whatsoever. She just shared excerpts of her articles, which were as always incisive and not offensive at all. Hey @pfrazee.com this is super not OK. I know her- we've interacted a fair bit via chats and her work is essential.

Wow. The sequel to The Monster at the End of this Book went pretty dark.

Is Trump now quoting Thomas Jefferson?
Trump: "You have people in Chicago, beautiful Black women wearing a MAGA hat, red MAGA hat -- 'please come Mr Trump, president' -- they call me president, they call me mister, they can call me whatever they want. 'Please come President Trump, please come.' They're begging us to come."

I know this isn't what he means. Surely. But it sounds like he wants us to pay taxes in a fund that then allows us medical care, almost like a sort of national healthcare system, but for all.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

WaPo Editorial Board: Shaving your head and acting like a Bond villain is good for society; having an ex-wife who donates most of her money to charity? Less so.
Update: In 3 recent editorials, WaPo failed to disclose owner Jeff Bezos's interest in the matter under discussion.
WaPo added one disclosure after @bgrueskin.bsky.social called it out.
Two weeks after my story, the other two editorials still have none. And the paper still won't say why

'Washington Post' editorials omit a key disclosure: Bezos' financial ties
Three times in the past two weeks, editorials at the 'Washington Post' failed to disclose that they focused on matters in which owner Jeff Bezos had a material interest.

Getting absolutely nothing for it, and working overtime for that nothing. And even if this triggers the release of the mythic Epstein files, Trump is on board with this plan so I suspect those files have been scrubbed so clean as to be effectively blank.
Senate just reached a deal to vote TONIGHT on final passage of the CR plus minibus to reopen the government. A series of 8 votes set to begin in moments.

HBO is reportedly developing a "V for Vendetta" TV series based on the titular comics, which were previously adapted into a 2006 film starring Natalie Portman.

Checking the date, I note they’re not starting until the 12th so that’s a chunk of November gone. Then there is Thanksgiving break. Then the December holidays. So two weeks of actual work?

I didn't know the FCC was okay with showing blowjobs on basic cable.

Not edited for content, meaning full hog, and also a closeup of a baby's head popping out of a vagina. (I think it's good to not edit--Sopranos on A&E was unwatchable--but some kids are about to the shocks of their lives.)
Meant to post this earlier, but: As @vulture.com first reported in April, THE PITT is getting a linear run on TNT. Today, we got details on when and how it will run on the network + the news that the eps will not be edited at all for language or graphic content. www.vulture.com/article/the-...

One wonders how much power those we like and trust have in a party that continues to fold like a fitted sheet.
I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.
We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.
A vote for this bill is a mistake.

I've known about how terrible Mark Twain was at investing in things but holy god. Yes, he came around--slowly--on race and prejudice and spent his whole life doing so. But the man never got the hint on coming around on investments (that he should avoid them) and would now have a show on CNBC I think
