To wind down commemorating Darwyn Cooke’s birthday: my signed copies of the Parker GNs “The Hunter” and “The Outfit” that Darwyn adapted. He had a sign at his table that he wasn’t doing sketches, but when some of us had these books and talked about being noir fans, he drew a small sketch in them.

In memory of Darwyn Cooke on his birthday. His short run on “The Spirit” was amazing. Likewise, his reworking of Ebony White to not be a racist caricature. Amazing artist and storyteller, gone too soon. “The New Frontier” is another masterpiece of his (both the book and animated movie in his style).

Been watching some episodes of “The Incredible Hulk”. Some escapism for the evening. No cgi needed for this Hulk. Saddest outro music for any show, I maintain.

Random art from my collection: a “Winnie Winkle” strip from 06/07/1926 by Martin Branner. It’s the oldest piece of original comic art that I have. This strip, plus one piece from 1933 and one piece from 1940 has my collection contain original art from each decade over the course of almost 100 years.

Watching the “Star Trek: TNG” episode “Relics” in which James Doohan reprised Scotty. It’s a poignant scene when he’s in the holodeck’s recreation of the original Enterprise bridge. He looks around at the empty bridge, raises a glass and says “Here’s to you, lads.” and is very somber.

Fooling myself by thinking that fasting, tonight, before my physical tomorrow is going to make a difference.

Watching the season 6 episode "Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences" from “Futurama”. There’s something nice about how when Lrrr gets kicked out by Ndnd, of all the places/people in the galaxy to go to, he goes to the Planet Express crew to ask to crash on their couch.

“Song”, WTF? Bad bot! Blocked.

Watching the “Futurama” episode “Roswell That Ends Well”. I still laugh at this exchange between Fry & Farnsworth:

Fry: But won't that change history?

Farnsworth: Ohhh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. "I'm My Own Grampa"! Let's just steal the damn dish and get out of here! Screw history!

Just one of those sort of days, so I just came back from picking up some Thai food for a “comfort” dinner.

Today I learned that Jack Kirby and Joe Simon had worked on the original Captain Marvel and that he was Kirby’s favorite character that he had not created/co-created. Plus, Kirby wanted to work on the character when DC revived it, but DC refused. www.newsfromme.com/2025/11/12/a...

Random art from my collection: a page from issue 2 of “She’s Josie” (1963) by Dan DeCarlo prominently featuring Melody. An oversized page, great to look at and I like the notes in the margin.
