Are the shared houses in Tomodachi Life based on the old Cube World toys? It immediately reminded me of them.
A shared house in Tomadachi Life: Living the Dream, it is constructed of 8 cube shaped apartments in a rainbow of soft colours, atop a white shared area below with a wooden porch. Cube World toys. They are a bunch of colourful cubes with LCD screens on them, all connected together via magnets. When powered on, they would act as a set of connected apartments for the characters that live inside .
