"All the people talking about polarization are just fascism enablers. They’re almost worse than the fascists because they’re just like, “Hey, how do I keep getting money in power?”

I've just informed Robert Talisse. I'm sure he'll be devastated.

Apparently the great sage of our times, Jason Stanley, thinks everyone who talks about polarization in American Politics is a fascist-enabler. 😂🤪

I study fascism. I’ve already fled America.
On this week’s “More To The Story,” former Yale philosophy professor Jason Stanley explains his recent move to Canada and calls the Trump administration’s takeover of the US government a “coup.”

In that unhinged Daily Nous post I linked, the discussants are now conversing with AI generated responses. Not by accident. On purpose. And doing so with great seriousness. We might just be the most foolish discipline. 😂🤦‍♂️🤪

A new Luddism is building. And it can't come soon enough. We've totally lost the plot with all this imbecile technology.

Two things can both be true (and are): (1) It was wise for the Democrats not to keep holding on to the government shutdown, once the stakes of withholding SNAP payments were clear to the public; (2) The sclerotic Senate leadership needs to be primaried.

This is very interesting and provides important context in light of our tendency to think that economically speaking, ours is the worst of (at least modern) times.

I remember when this was what getting gas was like.

I fondly remember the days when a super-Pop band could be made up of members of Yes, King Crimson, and Emerson Lake and Palmer. Alas, those days are long gone.

Seriously, when did everyone go barking mad? When did professional academics turn into the employed equivalent of people wandering the streets talking to lampposts?
