This report, Deciding To Win, is a call for the Democratic Party of the mid 2020s to transform itself into something ancient, a nightmarish amalgamation of the Clinton-era party and the pre-Newt Gingrich Republican Party. Deciding To Win urges the Democratic Party to become Monstro Elisasue from The Substance. There are a dozen ways in which this report is an amoral failing. Let's consider just one way: Abandoning abortion rights – basic bodily autonomy – after a half century of the right wing dismantling access to the medical procedure. Most Americans no longer have real access to abortion care after the captured Supreme Court killed Roe v. Wade and these politics knowers want Democrats to de-emphasize restoration of abortion rights. The report explicitly calls for the party to give up on reproductive rights, to concede the victory to a movement that strives to control Americans' fertility, a movement that has put every pregnant person in the US at risk. If the Democratic Party is not up for the fight to restore nationwide abortion access, it doesn't deserve to exist. Deciding To Win – a roadmap to losing everywhere all the time – is a Knope-esque plea to become boring in an age of dopamine overload, to ignore the conversion of politics into content to be consumed by a populace with no understanding of its own history. It operates under the assumption that Americans are citizens when we are not. We are consumers of goods and of content because that's all we were ever taught to be. This report is for a world that no longer exists. It belongs to the world that ended when Hillary Clinton's campaign collapsed under the weight of a new world populated by anxious, depressed MAGA for Mamdani Guys.

Reviews for the new Running Man film are trying to de-emphasize the whole point of the movie, that we're basically five minutes away from it not being a movie but our daily lives, by focusing on the action-film veneer and saying "best not to think about it" RE the actual plot.

This is absolutely remarkable - I have cleaned it (BY HAND, not AI) to de-emphasize the page fold, realigned it, and added 10% brightness, 5% contrast, and 5% saturation boost in Photoshop, then resized to 14" wide. Hopefully it comes through cleanly here.

I'll be contrarian, to a point. Since roughly 100% of Americans, w/an IQ over 60 points, knows what "anti-fascism" means, & have since WWII, progressive sorts would be smarter to use that term. "Antifa," to many, sounds foreign & scary, like "Intifada," which is why right-wingers use it exclusively.

FALL 2025 [a note about subs] at the start of the season, Crunchyroll implemented a new ~more widely compatible~ subtitling system that does away with any kind of typesetting or sensible formatting. across the board, subs are harder to read and closer in presentation to eg. what aniplex has been putting out for years—in other words, fucking garbage. while my overviews emphasize translation above everything else (because no one who does anime crit bothers to talk about it), subpar presentation that impedes clarity or comprehension *does* impact my overall impression. as a result, expect to see CR-sourced subs reviewing on average worse than previous seasons, even though there hasn't been a notable dip in TL quality. as of week ~3, a couple shows reverted back to a proper, readable format, but most of it's still fucked. if you're still subbed to CR, now's a great time to cancel that shit and tell them to fuck off with this nonsense! [sequels] Ao no Orchestra S2 blue Subs: N/A, unless you speak french Kekkon Yubiwa Monogatari S2 horny lord of the rings. will they actually fuck this time???
