Criminologist and former cop here. To call the illegal and unconstitutional use of force in Venezuela an act of law enforcement is to fundamentally mischaracterize what took place. Don’t allow the rats to appropriate legitimizing language to cover their sins.
Since when did “law enforcement” involve snatching another country’s oil?

The criminologist in me screams at concept of legality 🧵

Laws are fickle things that evolve to reflect mainstream societal norms & public sentiment. It always comes down to how a law is enforced, and by whom.

A reminder:
Lawful ≠ Right
Illegal ≠ Wrong

Mystery fiction circa 1930 wasn't particularly kind to Chinese characters. Australian mystery fiction in 1930 was remarkably *unkind* to them.

This is some grade-school level projection and deflection. I don't think you have to be a criminologist to tell this guy is guilty AF. And mentally ill.

This article by Wayne State College criminologist Jukka Savolainen is full of unfounded assumptions and unsupported projection. No real-world examples are given, no research about possible cause and affect is cited. Of course 44 out of 45 sociologists don’t align with a party who are 100% fascist.

I'm not a criminologist or staticician, but it seems to me that murder rates are one of the only crime stats that can't be juiced by cops/politicians.

I've seen first hand how cops can (and will) plead with a victim not to file assault charges (more work for them? bad stats for them? I dunno).
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.
