Good interview in the paper, this. I think Sadiq is right: London 'needs' to be less successful than it is for a bunch of political arguments here in the UK to work, hence the fictions being invented about it:

Damit würde man aber auch der Trump Administration eine Steilvorlage liefern sich ganz aus der NATO zurückziehen, weil jede europäische Alternative automatisch als Konkurrenz zur USA gesehen würde. Die Devise bisher scheint eher zu sein, die Amerikaner soweit es geht bei der Stange zu halten.
Soweit ich weiß, arbeitet niemand in der Bundesregierung an Plan B, C und D zur NATO. Ich finde das ziemlich beunruhigend. Merz brüstet sich mit 2 Wochen Wirbel-Diplomatie, was es aber wirklich braucht: Europas neue Sicherheitsarchitektur muss jetzt durchdacht & verhandelt verhandelt werden.
