We had a very nice visit from our MP James MacCleary. Sadly he was too old to sign up for the #SummerReadingChallenge
July 27, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Our regular reviewer Dorothy the megalodon met the book golem to talk about...books, of course. And the #SummerReadingChallenge, which is still on - you can join at the library. Or you can sign up online: summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

Dorothy and the golem are still talking; we can't separate them.

@ellygriffiths.bsky.social: The Woman In Blue

Dorothy the RIngmer megalodon says "The cover says 'bone chilling'. Good. I like bones. Not sure about chilled ones though. Cracking good book, couldn't put it down. Not even to eat."

You're right, Rachael 👇 ; it really is all still happening.
I’m reading a lot about how AI is creating a sad world devoid of human creativity. As a counterpoint, I work in my local library which is also a community hub and see so much creativity happening at a community level. Writers, painters, knitters, crafters, potters. It’s all still happening.

@ellygriffiths.bsky.social Woman In Blue wasn't on the shelf at @ringmerlibrary.bsky.social so I asked to go on the waiting list. Man went to check, and came back with it in his hand. I said, "It wasn't there!" He said, "It was in the hand of the person putting books back on the shelf". Result!

David Baldacci: Simply Lies. The first Baldaci book I've read but it won't be the last. Intriguing plot and great characters; two female protagonists who may or may not be on the same side. Definitely worth reading.
