Because this apparently has to be repeated again: Anyone using GenAI for concepts and placeholders is just looking for an excuse to use GenAI and would use it in the final version if they thought they could get away with it.

Yes! In grocery stores if I need to pass with my cart as someone is surveying the items I say excuse me or pardon me. What I notice is no one ever says that to me - and as I have aged I need to look longer for the specific product because there are now 10 variations. It’s sad to me.

100% - that is what I'm Qing myself about i guess - am I using my nostalgia for these games as an excuse, and that's only a judgement on me, not anyone else. But I also agree there's value in critically, vocally, visibly, dismantling and rebuilding these things! 🔥
