“India and the EU have struck a deal that is substantially more ambitious than previous agreements,” writes Arvind Subramanian. The country “will have fully liberalised its manufacturing sector within seven to ten years”
India may be about to become one of the world’s most open economies
New trade deals could make it a manufacturing powerhouse, reckons Arvind Subramanian

Boom! And replace in this sentence China with 'Europe' and 'EU, India etc' with Britain, and you have a good summary of what happened during Britain's EU membership: projecting their own neuroses onto Europe. (to this day many of its media and policy elites remain strikingly incurious about it)
Of course China is a huge strategic challenge for the EU, India and everyone else. But turning as complex a society as China with its own mix of strengths and weaknesses into a projection space for American neuroses of decline is not going to help anyone handle China's impact on the wider world

US Gov: We want to be isolatlists now.
Rest of the World: Okay, bye.

That's why EU, UK and other countries are moving away from USA and towards likes of India and China, more stable that way.

Do enjoy inflation going up next couple of decades.

India which was the largest buyer of Russia oil has decreased its purchases by 3,5 times year over year in January 2026. The drop was due to the ban on the import of fuel in the EU made from Russian oil.

The trade deals with the EU and the US, along with other reforms recently implemented hold the potential to transform India into a paragon of openness and a manufacturing powerhouse, Arvind Subramanian argues in the Economist.

She is flying a false flag of Timor-Leste where Timor-Leste demands of other states to stop her.

She is lawless. Sanctioned by EU and UK. She is on her fifth delivery of Russian crude to India last 12m.

She is leaving Baltic Sea laden now.

Something you may have missed: the EU's recent trade agreements with India, Indonesia, and Mercosur all reference Paris Agreement implementation.

The EU said at the time that the EU-NZ FTA was a template for their new approach to trade, and they weren't kidding.

January 2026 marked a turning point for the Russian-Indian oil partnership which was based on importing Russian crude, refining it and exporting it as fuel to the EU. That no longer works. India is also diversifying its oil imports due to pressure from the US.

Trade Deal?

It took 18yrs for the EU to reach a Trade Agreement with bureaucratic India. It runs to 24 chapters & >1,200 pages, (India leaned bureaucracy from Empire)

But the good ol’ USA has a Trade Deal with Modi in a month, “resetting the terms of economic alignment”

Sure! Let’s wait & see…
