I actually think EU is at threat as well, Trump really doesn't like EU at all so it could be a US/Russia type affair on that one eventually. The test will be if he can get away with Greenland first. If so then yeah I see EU or parts of it being next further down the line.

I think the issue with most people was that actual proper procedures were not done to make it completely lawful in both International Law and US Law. As in the President getting Congress approval.
