This is not regime change or a democratic transition but a decapitation of the Maduro regime. Venezuela's democratic opposition meanwhile is still far from the levers of power.

During Fiona Hill's testimony to Congress on Oct 14, 2019, she described how Trump and Putin discussed exchanging Ukraine for Venezuela. The quid pro quo was if Trump refuses to help Ukraine fight off a Russian invasion, Putin would not help Venezuela (a Russian ally) resist a US takeover.

In this episode, Martin Davidson talk about just how easy the nazi mindset grew in 1930s Germany and how easy nazi sympathies were swept under the carpet after the war.

At the end, Martin reminds us how these issues are still relevant today.

Venezuela ships this blend because it has to mix their main crude oil reserve, from the Orinoco belt (which is EXTREMELY heavy, gravity 8° or so) with lighter crude from elsewhere for it to be shippable.

And that’s the problem with Venezuela’s oil reserves: they’re basically sludge.
January 3, 2026 at 8:35 AM
I hope this is true.
That trump didn't just steal trillions worth of crude oil to pay off his election donors.

Over on Twitter, the story is that trjno just released trillions of Petro dollars into the market...
russia thinks it can get it for its war.

Will someone fucking stop this nutfucked man?
I know several oil barons, I’ve had the oil and gas industry as clients in a past life: none of them want the Venezuelan oil, it’s dog shit quality and getting the PDVSA fields up to modern standards would take 20 years! It’s just trump being stuck in 1987
At this point the oil barons hardly even care (they can pivot to renewables too). It’s just gender and internal combustion brain

Of course he has a puppet ready.
And of course it's not the woman, the Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Fuck trump and his warmongering cronies.
Can USA please get off their ass and remove the dictator?
Speaking to a solid source. Keep your eyes on Maduro’s Minister of Justice,
Diosdado Cabello as the new power supporter in VZ supported by Trump.

In all those months of prep, how come they didn't call the recent Nobel Peace Prize winner??

Probably because her approach to Venezuela's future isn't to see Venezuelan oil be nationalised by trump...

Last year, I was wondering if anyone in positions of power in Europe was thinking about the possibility that a time may come when European countries would need to put sanctions on the US, either for domestic civil rights violations or some kind of a war Trump will start.

Now would be the time. Alas

hegseth is the most dangerous person I've ever listened to.

How can European nations trust US troops on our soil?
Will USA attack Europe if we stand up for ourselves?

Where is the US democracy?
Where are the Americans?
Trump referred to The Monroe doctrine.
It's from 1823. 1823.

The purpose of THAT was to curb European imperialism. In 1823.

"what happened to maduro can happen to everyone."

trump, rubio and hegseth are acting dangerously and illegally.

No one respects trump.
"we're gonna run the country"
"we're ready to attack the country in a second wave. But maybe that's not necessary now."

The USA just took a country to get its oil.

Ja, én ting er at sige noget til nationen bag et bord - en anden ting er at få hele EU og nabolande til også at synes, dette er en god ide.

For ikke at nævne den dobbelte ansvarsfraskrivelse, når den danske stat siger:
"they broke it, you fix it."

5 yrs ago next Tuesday, an American president who lost an election but refused to accept the loss incited a violent attempt to overthrow the election.

Instead of being treated like a pariah, that president was actually voted back into the White House, a much bigger condemnation of us than him.

This is a constructed narrative for an audience of one.

Putin wants Trump to get pissed at Zelensky.

Russia and their agents have made dozens of attempts on Zelensky's life since Russia invaded, which never angered Trump.

The Russians have tried to assassinate Zelensky many times. Never seems to have bothered Trump.
Trump on a report that Ukraine tried to strike Putin's residence: "I don't like it. It's not good. I heard about it this morning. You know who told me about it? President Putin told me about it ... I was very angry about it."

Seriously.
No leader should sympathise that putins home was attacked.

1) his election was rigged - actually rigged!
2) he's a registered war criminal
3) he's violating international law
4) he says he'll attack Europe next

Fuck putin. He did this to himself.

Academics speak up now because they've studied and understand what drives people.

It's also why so MANY denounce and diminishe higher education and its qualified discourse.

Because academics see you and know the consequences of the rhetoric.
