#Divides
Politics 101: Any issue that unites your base and divides theirs is a good issue that you should keep pounding.
made a similar point on the opinions podcast this week in response to the idea that epstein is a dead end. not only are actual voters interested in this but it divides the gop and puts pressure on the president. it would be political malpractice to treat it as a sideshow
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

Force A Referendum On The Epstein Coverup
It divides Republicans much more than "affordability" or any other economic issue.

Gotta love how Jon Karl and ABC News had this graphic ready to go *the very moment* that Hassett rolled out his Walmart anecdote.

I think I’ve found an issue that will heal partisan divides and bring America together again: nobody likes these.

1. Scandal politics win elections pretty often.

2. THIS scandal divides the GOP more than affordability or really anything.

3. If Dems want to win the fight (pry the files loose, rather than give up after Trump says no) they need to make a referendum out of it. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

President Trump on social media withdrew his support for Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Georgia Republican who has increasingly broken ranks with him. The split has exposed the divides within Trump’s MAGA base over the Epstein files and more.

this question is classist, no? Like it divides pee and poo into different classes?

In the real world, where your hiring process is not 'first, I must only hire people who will never, ever move from Waterstones to Daunt's', you are in most roles having to look for fairly arbitrary divides between really good candidates!

Mahmood’s word-salad to camouflage a vile move by government. If immigration is causing divides fix the divides not the legislation.
“on article 8 of the ECHR in particular the right to family life ..we want to constrain in legislation the way that that is applied in immigration cases” Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood tells Sky’s Trevor Philips

Who would have imagined we would ever hear this from a Labour government

Forget about politics and religion, nothing divides the nation like who wants the heating on or off, or whether a window should be open or closed, in a shared office.

You see stuff differentiated on age (pensions and childcare) and location, but almost never on stuff that sits across political divides.

This DHS video uses language that divides describing those who “properly assimilate” while excluding others, and portraying opponents as “radical supporters." This is autocratic rhetoric that contributes to polarization and weakened democratic norms.

my Dean (who used to chair the English department) sends an email to William & Mary faculty every F & divides it into a top part everyone should read & a “below the line” creative musing that is optional. I look forward to it each week.

I wish more administrators were creatives.

The Bible leaves no room for disbelief without punishment.

Its framework is exclusionary by design — belief divides salvation from damnation.

That’s not divine wisdom, but the mark of an insecure, dictatorial deity who fails to grasp that faith cannot be forced.

SF newspapers have been stereotyping Chinese American voters as NIMBYs rather blatantly after Prop K but it's the same generational age divide that all other demographics deal with. When white voters have gen divides its understood in those terms but when non-whites do it its like a race thing.

Everything Trump has done has damaged the US. He hasn't added to the nation in any way. He further divides the US people, he has alienated allies, embraced enemies like Putin and Xi and he has wrecked the economy. Just like he did the first time around. Is anyone surprised?

I think one of the divides in the party is between people who want to win an election and people who want to win power.

Only Gavin Newsom is positioned to bridge the divides he’s created in between different constituencies in his own party
J-MART, on Newsom:

“.. Ask yourself: How many other potential candidates .. can transcend the political-pop culture divide ..?

“.. there may not be a modern political figure who was simultaneously so well-positioned to be his party’s nominee ..”

5/🧵 Race divides the Democratic Party more than it does Republicans. Young Republicans remain almost as racially resentful as older Republicans. But among Democrats and independents, massive shifts. White Gen Z independents have lower racial resentment than Boomer Democrats.

“Proper” and “improper” syntax and grammar are real markers of class divides. But those divides are less important than the one between those who want to communicate with people, and those who want to communicate their own superiority.
