Upset about recent WI and Girl Guides announcements? Me too. But they didn't choose this. It was imposed by the Charity Commission, based on EHRC guidance that arose from the Supreme Court judgement. Take that down & the whole house of cards tumbles. Here's how. goodlawproject.org/crowdfunder/...

Trans women has been welcomed at the Women's Institute since the 1970s and one member is in her 80's and has been a member for decades. This is pure bigotry pushed by legal threats backed monetarily by JK Rowling.

Been saving a bunch of books set at Christmas until now, and just finished the latest Dog Sitter Detective novel, another cracker (sorry!) set in remote Somerset with retired spies and of course, dogs! There’s even a little Goth Easter Egg in there, read it to find it! @antonyjohnston.bsky.social

among all the "yass slay" responses, I think it's worth considering that glamour mag believes that trans ppl+allies are a bigger consensus than the gc dogma in the UK

and that is a SIGN
The fearmonger-in-chief also had a winge about it. I won’t share her tweet, but this was Glamour’s reply. 💀

Nobody complained when chimpanzees drank tea, aliens made instant mash, ambassadors served mediocre chocolate in lieu of canapes. But portray a black couple enjoying a breakfast buffet at a Premier Inn and there will be hell to pay.

Anyone who remembers puberty should know that menopause is no picnic. It’s puberty backwards in high heels. But equally, anyone who remembers puberty knows you survive. And that’s the thing to hold onto.
I keep thinking how impossible it feels to balance the need to openly, honestly acknowledge how immensely difficult & distressing menopause can be & how impactful on every aspect of the body-mind, with the need not to make it excessively forbidding or frightening for those yet to experience it
Feel compelled to acknowledge world menopause day today as it’s such an important thing to talk about without shame or embarrassment, but anything that feels wise or useful is currently beyond me.
So just love & solidarity to anyone else going through it, whatever version of it you’re navigating

I found this a really illuminating thread on what demonstrations do and why they matter.
In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

The Hampstead ponds have REPEATEDLY voted to include trans women. But the officious pricks at Sex Matters don’t care what other women think and are forcing a public consultation anyway. Throw the ponds some support.
🚨 Consultation survey launched on whether trans people should be able to access Hampstead Heath ladies' pond following Supreme Court ruling

The consultation is open until 12:00 on Tuesday 25th November 2025.
