Amazing photo.

The alt text is packed with extra detail and context.
This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

Met far away
On an endless plain
Far away
And Long ago
Sang once, sang again:
‘Long away
And far ago
Are the places
That we’ve been;
Far ago
And long away
And nowhere
In between’

I wrote this short story about an obsession. With food and rice. And perfection.

I like it. You might like it as well, who knows.

Sound advice from @timhayward.bsky.social in this weekend's @financialtimes.com about cooking in an iron pan - "if anything sticks, ....wait, and it will usually detach itself."
Same applies to our spun iron pans - no need for expensive alternatives.

Can we please stop accepting it when broadcasters and other media call it “AI hallucinations”?

It’s AI bugs. AI errors.

Also when interacting with AI, the first thing to tell it is to Stop referring to itself in the first person. It is not a person.

Just read this on, well, guess where?

"When we see the imagery of an elephant saving a tiger’s life—even in an AI-generated representation—it strikes a deep chord because it disrupts our assumptions."

These people* are nuts.

Removed my novel from Amazon. It’s about the power of strangers to defeat grief and fascism.

It’s set in a country town in England during the ‘70s when the National Front were trying to be more palatable to the average voter.

About 20 people wanted to buy it.

Also, Amazon is monstrous.

Not gently stirring risotto takes all the lovely meditative content meant out of cooking it in the first place. It’s like making risotto without a glass of wine handy.

I don’t care about your no knead bread either, well, I do - bread dough should be stretched and folded. Otherwise, where’s the fun?

I got one of the "Batch Lady" books to see how I could pre-prep some meals and freeze them. But it basically boils down to...

"Have you considered mixing pasta with a sauce?"

Everything looks so bland and horrible in it.

Farage says he will now vote against scrapping the two-child limit. In case it benefits “foreign-born people”.

It’s not just the racism, it’s the out-of-control personal greed, combined with the staggering meanness.

He’s a repulsively inadequate man.

It took several prompts but I think ChatGPT finally got it ;-/

I asked it several times for an outline map of The Republic of Ireland in 1923.
There was no formal Republic until the Republic of Ireland Act, 1948.
I then asked for a diagram of the human body, of course it defaulted to male.

Voila!
