@chrismurraymp.bsky.social Shabana Mahmood might deny that her new proposals tend to the far right, but the far right seem to be lapping them up.

And the slightly less far right - Chris Philp on #BBCLauraK - are demanding that you go further.

This is a really, really bad choice.
This rancid trash understands the significance of Labour's anti-refugee policies.

The Green Fields of France has been on my mind since Remembrance Day. One lyric from it has strong echoes for this kind of policy.

'Man's blind indifference to his fellow man.'

You can't overlook this kind of hideous policy without sheer, inhuman, indifference.

You cant parachute asylum seekers into deprived areas, in completely inappropriate housing, then say those migrants are 'dividing our country'. You divided the country because you can't organise a basic service and process claims in a timely way

How exactly is claiming that illegal immigration is "tearing our country apart", as Mahmood does, any different from Powell's rivers of blood?

(Powell was a Tory shadow minister. He got swiftly sacked for it. Mahmood is a Labour Secretary of State. This is Labour policy)

I wrote this in 2018. 6 years later and people still think it's hilarious to mock Trump and Putin by calling them 'gay'

This is real. Our govt is Tweeting like a 14 year old and calling Americans imbecilic morons. We worry about children being bullied but this is the example set by the U.S. GOVERNMENT. This is so shameful. I’m embarrassed for any of you that think this is okay or make excuses for it.

This government has said the UK is "the destination of choice" for asylum seekers in Europe. That is simply untrue.

Now saying: claims in the UK are rising, while they are falling across Europe. Accurate of Germany (the destination of choice), of France (still more claims than UK), but not Spain

Absolutely appalling!

And she claims her faith is what guides her in everything. No religion urges its followers to target vulnerable people (even if many, like her it seems, are oblivjous to that)
Shabana Mahmood on the BBC this morning talking about desperate people fleeing war and persecution as being given a "golden ticket" and "handouts" and saying she's got a "moral mission" to take them away from them

Indistinguishable from the rhetoric of Reform www.adambienkov.co.uk/p/shabana-ma...
Shabana Mahmood and the Politics of Extortion
Labour's strategy of telling its supporters to back Reform-style policies, or get a Reform Government, is the politics of the protection racket and it is not going to work

Good morning ☀️

Starting the day with this powerful Nelson Mandela quote:

“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.”

Isn’t that what it’s all about? The choices we have to make. And what moves us to make them.

Hypocritical bollocks! She has already moved on from "illegal migrants" to targetting refugees. How long before someone uses her policies as a step up to go after the virtuous "legal migrants" like her, with the wrong skin colour. Cause any division in this country comes from racists and xenophobes
“How do you respond to people who say you’re being panicked into a racist immigration policy?”

I wonder if the “REALLY senior people at the BBC who are SO far over on the JK Rowling camp” could be BBC Non-Exec Board Director, JKR friend, and ‘gender critical’ transphobe, Muriel Gray - who was re-appointed to the BBC board 2 weeks before the “Prescott memo” was ‘leaked’!? 🤔🤔🤔

I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

This so-called centre left government's eggregious policies on immigration are being endorsed by the far right... what more do we need to know?
Tommy Robinson is claiming credit for the language/policy being used by the Labour government (about deporting people found to be refugees once their home country is deemed safe)
November 16, 2025 at 8:50 AM
This is crazy. It seems Labour has talked itself into believing that *refugees*, not even so-called "illegal migrants", are the problem, the ennemy. Those people have no morals
Shabana Mahmood plans to extend the period refugees have to wait for permanent residence in the UK to 20 years, during which time their status will be under repeated review

The things we do for our art!

Tonight I was assigned to take pictures at the reopening of a piercing studio (new venue). I was told that a client had just arrived so suggested taking "action" pics of that, which was promptly organised. Turns out it was a genital piercing. Unexpected! #photography
