"And in the end the game of power becomes nothing but the critical obsession with power - obsession with its death, obsession with its survival, which increases as it disappears."

I usually don't say stuff like this, but genuinely, what is fucking *wrong* with people today? Why are you using the fucking Liartron 3000 for anything at all? You can *see* it doesn't work!

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal their bread."

The decision bans treatment for gender dysphoria for both people who have it and also people who do not have it. Totally equitable.

this is SO IMPORTANT! the entire project of human knowledge and research is a collective effort, spanning generations, beings evaluating themselves. discoveries are emergent from the process itself, not located/hidden in the texts.
Someone else can always read the sources you didn’t in the future.

We don’t always have to do everything now.

'But AI is great for story generation.' No it's not. Experience and critical thinking are good for story generation. Thinking about what makes a story and messing around and researching generates stories real humans want to read. People do not seem to understand that developing the work is the work.

Same. I am so tired of avoiding it everywhere and avoiding the people who shill for it. It's like everywhere I go someone is running up to me like "I'M A GIANT HORNET RANCHER NOW! LOOK AT THIS! PUT IT IN YOUR HAND! EVERYONE IS DOING IT! IT'S A FUN AND EASY WAY TO CREATE A HUGE PAINFUL WELT!"
I just want 'ai' to go away. The simultaneous widespread poisoning of knowledge; attempt to end-run professions that cultivate critical thinking; and sucking the joy out of everything while ramming unwanted technology down our throats is so exhausting. I just can't anymore.

They don’t believe in any gods and can’t read the Bible. How can they possibly do the morally correct thing?

Quiet, empty street

Someone asks the secret service guy standing in front of us whether it's over. "Honestly I have no idea," he replies
