For those who don't know me, I'm a lawyer in Nashville doing domestic and international trademark work, tech transactions and privacy work. I particularly like working with media publishers and software developers. Happily married dog mom. It's nice to meet you.
Requesting that we only post #aurora posts for the next three nights.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

We went grocery shopping today. I needed to pick up some almond butter. The regular almond butter was 4.49 (Justin’s brand). If you wanted vanilla or chocolate almond butter is was 11.49.

Everyone really needs to know that SNAP benefits could absolutely get paid next week, and should get paid next week. The contingency money is there. It was congressionally authorized for this purpose. USDA said they would pay it. But Tr*mp called Brooke Rollins and told her not to.
Mark this down:

On Monday, Trump will announce that he "saved" the SNAP program and people will get their food stamps for November. Republicans will claim that Democrats wanted people to starve but Trump made sure it didn't happen. The media will go along with them.

Police from a town of 900 in Colorado accused a woman of theft. Based on their Flock cameras they told her, "you can’t get a breath of fresh air, in or out of that place, without us knowing, correct?" and reportedly told her the exact number of times her license plate had driven through that town.
Police used Flock cameras to accuse a Denver woman of package theft. She had her own evidence
"Like I said, nothing gets in or out of the town without us knowing."

Johnson's going to be in a fucking pickle if the GOP candidate wins the TN-7 special before the shutdown is over. (AZ not being the only place lacking representation at the moment).
🚨BREAKING: The State of Arizona filed a lawsuit accusing House Speaker Mike Johnson of violating the Constitution by refusing to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva. The plaintiffs argue that Johnson’s delay has deprived hundreds of thousands of Arizonans of representation.

In case you need a little light in your life at the moment:
I've been tutoring an elementary school student whose parents speak little English, since she was in second grade. She's now in 5th. When we started it was a struggle. Next week she'll be recognized for her high marks in the 1st semester.

Meta was tired of getting dinged with fines from the data protection authority in Ireland, so it staffed the office with friendlies.
Big piece in POLITICO asking about the independence of Ireland's process of appointing people to its Data Protection Commission. There is deep unease in Brussels about Ireland appointing a former Meta lobbyist as Meta's watchdog. Now questions about who was involved.

Last night the conversation going on behind me in the Dublin pub where I had dinner was about how absurd it is for ChatGPT to try sound like an Irish person and I’ve been smiling about that ever since.

That bastion of partisanship, the USPTO.
"Hours after government funding lapsed, the Patent and Trademark Office began firing personnel, according to an internal email and interviews with staff. The fired personnel are people in business support units, such as communications, according to the staffers NOTUS spoke with."
NEWS: Government layoffs are coming in the next few days, sources tell us. Preparation is underway at the agencies, and RIFs have already started at the US Patent Office.

White House is blaming Dems for the firings, even though nothing about a shutdown requires mass firings.

Just read the announcement from our local federal court that all civil litigation involving the US government as a party is suspended during the shutdown.

Nice for the government, isn't it.

ICE raided my town today. They went to the City Administrative Building and grabbed scores of men who were there to pull permits for construction jobs. They went to the heart of the construction and renovation business in our tiny town and destroyed it and dozens of families.

Back in the halcyon days of Twitter my law partner and I used it to talk about IP almost exclusively, with the occasional snarky view on life. I guess I don't feel like Bluesky is quite ready for that. I don't know if it's just the times or the platform,
but it's politics here all the time.
Have a question for those that were on Twitter heavy and are now primarily here:

Would you say you've pretty much stayed the same in terms of how/what you post (content, topics, tone) across both apps?

Did your approach to posting/sharing change significantly?
