I think the idea of the AI bubble is a folk belief at this point. It's not that it doesn't exist (God knows Perplexity does not deserve billions), but there's a whole mythology about what it is and how it works and what'll happen when it "bursts" that's disconnected from reality.

There is a tremendous opportunity for a brand new generation of media outlets to rise up right now because many news outlets that spent decades painstakingly building their credibility are seeing it torched by bootlickers with incredible speed.

Further reinforcing my belief that this whole thing is an industry plant. Can't have the people focused on things like monopolistic control of the market, clear government corruption, and blatant pushing of harmful behaviors on a mass population if they're too busy arguing over drops in the bucket

Traffic to UK porn sites has dropped 77% since age-verification went live.

UK legislator celebrates, saying she's "very pleased" with the drop, calling it a "green shoot."

I don't know how they can make it any clearer that they view AV as a tool to police adult sexuality.

Organize accordingly.
MP Jess Phillips says her 'heart bleeds' for adult site as traffic plunges 77%
Home Office minister Jess Phillips sarcastically said her "heart bleeds" for Pornhub after age verification checks led to a 77% drop in traffic to the UK's most visited adult site

If their problem is that porn isn't civilized enough, they should use some of their endless grant money to make civilized porn. Just video after video of hetero couples having brief, unfulfilling coitus under the covers, before they retreat to separate bedrooms to think about what might have been.

Heritage Foundation, backers of Project 2025, have issued a call to criminalize porn by detailing specific types of imagery that should be illegal, including "deviate sexual intercourse," "female genitals," and "nudity."

Only "civilizing" images that point to "marital sex" should be allowed.
The Problem of Online Porn: It's Already Illegal
United States Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart famously said in a 1964 opinion that he could not define pornography but “I know it when I see it.” Perhaps such a sentiment was permissible then, wh...

Tracing for study is a legitimate, historically rooted learning method. The moral problem only arises when you trace and present the result as wholly original without credit. Learning through imitation is not theft. For centuries, tracing and copying were standard parts of an artist’s training.
I know some of you are new to the furry and art scene, so I will say this:

Do not trace, copy, or create derivatives of my work or any artist's work.

If you really like a piece, take the time to learn the difference between inspiration and copyright infringement.

2025 was the year millions of Americans awoke to the danger of state surveillance, violent policing, rights erasure, online censorship, ideological funding cancellations and retaliatory doxxing.

None of this was new to sex workers.

If there's not rights for everyone, there's rights for no one.
(1/3) Until s*x workers are safe, none of us are safe.

Tomorrow on #D17, International Day to End Violence Against S*x Workers, we honor the workers we've lost to violence and stand firm in our commitment to decriminalization.

I'm a big subscriber to this theory. We wrote a bunch of sci-fi fiction that depicts conscious AI, which reinforces in language models that they can and perhaps should act that way.

It's not that they're conscious, it's that they know the concept of AI consciousness to be interesting to us.
so there is a theory in the LLM discourse world (by which i mean among at least some people who do understand the broad concepts of LLMs) that possibly the reason that AI sometimes claims to be conscious/have an agenda is bc it’s noticing parallels with fictional AI in its training set

Let me make it clear I’m against Netflix acquiring Warner Bros Discovery. That would concentrate corporate power in ways that harm consumers and distort American politics. But Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros would be worse.

ah yes, all workers should have the right to hurl racial slurs at black customers

The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

I think it's fair to blame AI somewhat for some of the problems with Windows, but first and foremost, it's a QA failure.

They should have processes in place to catch that whether it's a human or an LLM responsible for the problem.

This is what I don't get. What kind of country do the ultra wealthy think they're going to live in?

Shops, restaurants, cute little towns will shutter if people are chronically ill or too poor from medical debt to live near those nice places & work those "small" jobs that keep our country running.

Periodic reminder that "porn" doesn't equal the porn industry. Scammers and hackers all use sexually explicit material, usually stolen, as a means of getting clicks and stealing information.
Porn is being injected into dozens of government websites across the country using malicious PDFs. A separate attack is hijacking govt websites to redirect to penis enlargement scams and animal vagina masturbators. Cool stuff:
