I don’t want to vote for a Democrat who promises to get Trump’s voters to vote for them. I want a Democrat who wants to put Trump in prison

Since Christmas is around the corner, a reminder that Wikipedia has a store. And the profits go to a project billionaires hate, so you're buying an object and getting free spite.
Classic Collection

@booker.senate.gov @kim.senate.gov looking at you to support better leadership in the Senate than this
I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Grateful for everyone out there fighting for their communities under the national radar…
BREAKING: Democrat Johnny DuPree has flipped a Republican-held Mississippi Senate district in a special election.

DuPree was previously the mayor of Hattiesburg.

His win imperils the Mississippi Senate GOP's narrow supermajority.

The last New York City mayoral candidate to secure over 1 million votes was John Lindsay in 1969.

Zohran Mamdani will be the seventh New York City mayor ever to receive more than 1 million votes.
OVER 1 MILLION VOTES.

Alec Baldwin is the best Jack Ryan because he really sells “I’m in over my head,” which is an essential part of the character. I said what I said!

hey @nytimes.com: there is no counterpoint here. There are no credible legal experts who would EVER say that the US military has any right or authority to blow civilian craft out of the Caribbean and kill their crews from afar without any provocation. There is no other side to this question.

Not for nothing, but it would probably be harder for an autocrat to pressure the news and entertainment industry if we didn’t keep letting them consolidate into fewer, larger companies over the last 40 years.

Strong anti-trust regulations are good for democracy!

40% of Republicans think the COVID vaccine killed more people than the COVID virus. One in four believe that QAnon is real.

No matter how far they radicalize, we are told over and over again that the people being rude to them are the problem.

They are telling people what they plan to do. Will Democratic politicians believe them? Unlikely.
New:

At a Gateway Pundit conference, former Trump attorney Peter Ticktin said he “wouldn’t be very surprised” if there’s “an emergency called” before the next election, as "it's necessary."

"And with that emergency, we're going to be able to turn the tide.” www.mediamatters.org/voter-fraud-...

Will someone PLEASE start saying loudly, publicly, and repeatedly that Republicans don’t like democracy because their ideas are unpopular. It’s a very simple premise that has the advantages of being very straightforward, totally true, and basically impossible to refute.

He blocked comments, which makes sense because a lot of people were probably also gonna say dude, I bet I agree with you about almost everything, but there’s like, concentration camps now?
People like this should be cast out of society. Seriously, go live in a fucking cave, you capitulating, spineless worm
Prepare yourself for a Dem nominee (him or somebody else) with whom you don’t agree on everything (Gaza, trans issues, death penalty). You have three years to get the fuck over it because anyone the Dems offer up is better than this or something like this.

Reminder that this is still the way…
ok one more "how we do it on bluesky" re: "block, don't engage." it's not that anybody wants to tell you what to do -- it's that we collectively realized that this is what works. it works really great! zero, zero response needed. just block! don't argue at all with dickheads! try it! you'll see.

I just can’t anymore. My heart goes out to all the people who do great work on many parts of this historic institution. But, I can no longer let my fix for cool puzzles and great recipes subsidize the deliberate manipulation of the public discourse in this way. This is a very sad day for me.

So, I wrote my first letter to the editors of the NYT:

Subject: You All Know What You Did

To the Editors:

We all need to stop pretending, out of some obsolete sense of propriety or decorum, that anything in the public discourse is fair or objective anymore. (1)
