There’s one phrase that is really insidious settler-colonial/nationalist propaganda: ’the US is a nation of immigrants‘ which tries to make it seem like people came here for a ‘better life’ and weren’t complicit/involved in the displacement and genocide of indigenous peoples

A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

Serving as a stormtrooper in an imperial military should be stigmatized. The entire war machine is set up as a giant jobs program, and it's the last vehicle for social mobility left in the US. That's on purpose. You shouldn't have to be a spear carrier for the empire to afford college.
