That’s not incidental, that’s endemic.

Very important info on switching from various groups, too.

Why do people say they leave? The biggest reason is that they stopped believing the claims.

Shielding people seen as weak only makes them weaker, and when they reach some "magical" age, prone to the same manipulations the shielding was meant to protect them against.

OTOH, teaching critical thinking to young people makes them stronger.
But it's hard and takes dedication from educators.
