One of the less-discussed things that seems likely to come out of the AI boom is a sharp devaluation of naturally-occurring “standard” human beauty. We’re entering an era where everyone online is going to look like they have the ideal figure, great hair, and perfectly symmetrical features.

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel living in the US. The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.

These operations would be unlawful even if those murdered had all been criminals. But it's important to show just how much deception is involved from start to finish in this gruesome charade.
The AP tracked down details of some of the people killed in President Trump's military strikes on drug smugglers he describes as narco-terrorists.

They were, with one exception, not high-level criminals. One was a fisherman. One was a bus driver; another a taxi driver.

Thinking about why I, a person who has never lived in New York and never particularly cared about it much, feel so great about Mamdani winning, and I think it comes down to: he honestly likes people and cares about his community, and that feels like a revolutionary change in modern politics.

There is a certain percentage of people who go through life constantly scanning for anyone around them doing anything they don’t understand or disagree with so that they can spend their whole day being mad about it. Those are bad people.

This feeds my theory that our current politics is no longer driven by ideas or values but by personality types. Some people just go through life stewing incessantly over every tiny thing they’ve ever seen that they don’t like, and they’ve made that the core of the Republican Party.
I'm generalizing, but why do conservatives remember political irritations for so much longer than liberals?

It's been 17 years since Obama said some voters "cling to their guns, to their religion" and I heard a senator denounce that last month.
