A rare interview with the creators of the always-funny, always-brilliant, and *usually*-sexy—or occasionally anti-sexy—OGLAF!

Cooper has kept a low profile over the years, but is legitimately one of the very best artists in comics today. Read OGLAF if you're old enough to drive!
Talking Oglaf with Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne: 'We'd stay up all night drawing stuff to make each other laugh' - The Comics Journal
Other than some time off every year for Christmas, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne have delivered a new Oglaf comic, skewering fantasy tropes with absolutely not safe for work humor, every week since 2008...

Ozzy Osbourne visited my magic shop. He said he'd like to buy some stink bombs. How many? All of them. I had to go through drawers finding every last one. He bought 900 of them. To sign the credit card slip I handed him a shock pen, which he thought was hilarious and bought that too. RIP

Folks, can we please get this funded! This is a VERY reasonable goal for a whole anthology of fantasy comics by Black women, and LOOK HOW COOL IT IS.
Did you know that you can get a hardback edition of the anthology? And it's only available in the kickstarter! Secure your copy today and join in the adventure!

Another cool thing:

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) makes magazine images searchable. But OCR software is designed for "high contrast, black on white" text (e.g. NOT gaming magazines)

So they developed their own OCR that handles this kind of nonsense

I've worked with OCR, and THIS IS AMAZING

This thread is a gift.

Thank you for this perspective.
Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

If you are a TTRPG designer who can’t afford to pay an artist living wages it is 100% cool and good and AWESOME to use resources like this so you can create a world you’re proud of looks cool.

To clear a misconception I often see from people who know about version control but don't want to use it:

Git ≠ GitHub ≠ open source

You can have a local Git repo and keep your change history only for yourself.
If you're writing code and you don't use version control (such as git), WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU READING THIS?! Go set one up! RIGHT F**KING NOW! There is absolutely no reason to code without version control.

I hate the way articles about BSky keep framing choice to move here in terms of left/right and echo chambers. Fundamentally, the bigger issues for me are wanting to see links/current news, wanting to see posts that aren't rage-baiting/content farming, and wanting actually diverse conversations.

a) Have you considered that maybe your handwriting is bad because you DON'T use a fountain pen?

and

b) who cares? Stop denying yourself joy over whether you're 'good enough' to deserve it

The secret to managing email from non-profits and businesses is to have a filter on the word "unsubscribe" that automatically shunts any email with that word in it out of my inbox and into a specific side folder. Then they don't clutter up my inbox and I can deal with them at my leisure.
Based on my experience with charitable giving, you must get so much mail begging various causes.
