I hate the "I didn't upload this to AI" certification box that's now mandatory on grant and manuscript reviewer portals. And it is gross (and unethical) that anyone needs to be told this.

“ A scholarship at UC San Diego — created to honor victims of Klan violence & help Black students — was forced open to white applicants after a legal challenge…A program meant to repair racial terror…has to include descendants of those who were never targets of it.”

Opinion | Flipping fairness: California's "colorblind" laws fail Black students
A scholarship meant to repair racial terror now must include descendants of those who were never targets of it. But is it, and programs like it, truly discriminatory?

While a 50 year mortgage might lower monthly payments, it drastically increases total interest and slows equity growth. Stimulating demand without fixing supply would likely raise prices. The core issue in the housing market isn't financing; it's the lack of supply.

On The Gateway Pundit's podcast yesterday, Stewart Rhodes announced he's relaunching the Oath Keepers

He also urged Trump to “call us up as a militia" & "order us all to come together in our counties under his command."

At the same time the Trump administration is firing FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors who investigated the J6 insurrection, they are pardoning those directly involved in trying to overturn the election and organizing January 6th, and prosecuting the President's perceived political enemies.
Ed Martin seemed to explicitly link the pardons to his “No MAGA left behind” mantra—tweeting the news in reply to a post that said exactly that.

In addition to his role as pardon attorney, Martin leads the Weaponization Working Group, which probes alleged “politicization” of the Justice Department.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Less than a week after shocking upset wins across the country by Dems

Broad consensus that republicans are to blame for the shutdown and the associated harm

Uncountable opportunities to capitalize on public sentiment

And Senate Dems just give up entirely.

I just did this and if nothing else it was cathartic. I said I would make it my life’s mission to make sure there’s a primary challenger for any D involved in this deal, it’s fucking embarrassing.
So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader

apropos of nothing I wrote a book a long time ago about how the DLC and Bill Clinton redefined winning for an entire generation of Democrats as "getting something done" through bipartisanship and compromise rather than achieving (or even having!) a specific outcome in mind, and, what do I know.

I am so weary of running around explaining contemporary politics to Democratic senators but Trump has taken the power of the purse from Congress and has made good on his promise to not fund anything he doesn't want to so "guaranteeing a vote in the Senate" is not a thing.
