Jane Haining became matron of the Jewish Mission Girls Home in Budapest. In 1939 she returned, against advice, saying that if the children needed her in days of sunshine they wd need her in dark times too. She was sent to Auschwitz in 1944 where she was murdered.

Huge respect to the papers for finding both an 88 year old worried about the tax bill on her 6 bedroom Kensington house and a 20 year old fretting about only being able to save £12k a year tax free.

This is the first Thanksgiving for Sophie & Colin Hortman without their parents, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman who were assassinated along with the family dog in an act of political murder. National guards troops were not deployed to the state in response.

There is no constitutionally legitimate scenario in which we are being de facto governed by the White House Deputy Chief of Staff using a half-dead president as his sock puppet. We went out of our way to amend the Constitution on precisely this point.
