Normally I would say the refusal to mark this day indicates homophobia. And certainly that's true here, but that's only a part of it: the administration has also set itself against science, humanitarianism, and the health and survival of its own people. It opposes every form of human well-being.

Jane Haining became matron of the Jewish Mission Girls Home in Budapest. In 1939 she returned, against advice, saying that if the children needed her in days of sunshine they wd need her in dark times too. She was sent to Auschwitz in 1944 where she was murdered.
