In the UK we had the CSA Inquiry - set up by Theresa May to deflect from some very difficult questions over establishment figures engaged in child rape, & with the proviso that it would not be able to prosecute anyone; so all the guilty escaped unpunished.

I'm pretty sure the performance today is in no small part a response to that threat, and an attempt to keep her job inside the tent.
