From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."

Yes they are psychopaths and narcissists who are for other reasons lacking in empathy. But when I see someone say something this horrific and without feeling, this is why.

As much as we’re seeing this in our world—please know, it’s not normal. It’s not inherent to us, just the opposite.

Yes, even if Substack wasn’t shot through with Nazis, it’s a bad model. That it is shot through with Nazi makes it a VERY bad model.
“Pay journalists directly for their work” is the same hyper-capitalist model as Uber, but even more ill equipped to address the need it exploits. See: Substack.

The fact that this, and every other Trump pardonee who has subsequently broken the law, has not ended Trump's political career, that it barely even registers on the national discourse, underlines just how far we are from a functioning democracy that values accountability.
A man pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in January 6th - he assaulted Capitol Police officers with bear spray & a metal whip - has avoided prison for child sex crimes because of the president’s sweeping pardon, despite pleading guilty to soliciting what he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex

One of the most chilling things about this story is that some did not even know it was ICE.
They thought it was “an attack on the school” i.e. a school shooter.
Think on that for a minute.
“They didn’t just walk in chasing one person, they went into multiple rooms asking and looking for teachers while children were present,” Ramirez said. “This is an agency that has gone rogue and it an agency that believes that as long as they can cover their face, they can get away with anything.”
