One striking thing about this @drilledmedia.bsky.social podcast on Norway's internal conflict over oil and climate: The US has the same basic problems - oil and gas wealth skewing our culture and politics - but none of the social benefits that Norway's *publicly owned* O&G wealth provides.
The Black Thread
A mini-series on Norway’s conflicted identity as both a progressive global leader and one of the world’s dominant oil states.

Fix-up List

There are some conflicts that continue to simmer away in our society, and will eventually need to be dealt with if we are to progress.

1. Religious beliefs that are in contradiction to scientific evidence playing a role in policy and law. 1/3

I haven’t learned a new language in a while. Thinking about learning Julia or Mojo. Generally I code for ML and scientific programming in chemistry and mat science. Any recommendations?

This was fascinating to me. generally I don’t concern myself with occult things but several ppl close to me do and I know it brings value and meaning in its own way
Two weeks ago I went to Berlin to report on the Occulture conference. Last week's episode covers William Burrough's cut-up method vs generative AI.

This episode we debate why people practice occultism in 2025, whether as solitary ritual or to influence culture and politics.
@bishonentype.bsky.social ‬talks with a panel of magicians at the Occulture conference in Berlin to discuss digital technomancy vs. traditional magical practices and debate the ability of occultism to shape politics and culture in contemporary society.

My Fitbit reports probably 20% more steps than my iPhone. What’s up with that? It also reports steps when I’m driving so I think the Fitbit is somehow biased towards making you feel like you’ve walked more

I also love how increasingly gay and progressive it is getting in our small Ohio town. I especially love the Don’t Tread on Me flag flying proudly from a Neighbors house with the rattler superposed on a rainbow flag background

Just spent the morning walking around my small town and its neighboring village. Starting out with cool lovely fog and ending up in warm sunshine.

At a time when Trump wants to double premiums and throw 15 million off the health care they have, please remember that the U.S. is the only major country on Earth not the guarantee health care to all as a human right.

We must pass Medicare for All.

There is 1,200 times more #bacteria biomass on Earth than human biomass.

We still don't know what came first, viruses or bacteria aka cells. We know close to zero.

We know that their symbiosis makes all life on Earth possible.

Let’s go, Amy Acton! We gotta lot of rot to get out of Ohio.
Dr. Amy Acton campaigns everywhere and gets herself into a lead over Vivek.

Highest job approval in Ohio. By a lot.

Perfect matchup—doctor, not a politician.
