"Kavanaugh Stop" went from a skeet on here to Bluesky meme to crosspollinating over on X to Brett Kavanaugh's burner account seeing it there to a whiny defensive footnote about it in a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Juice.
Check out the Kavanaugh FN 4; I think it's pretty clear that the Kavanaugh Stop thing has gotten to him:

Very funny to see Alito complain about the court skipping full briefing and oral arguments for a quick shadow docket decision when he has signed onto innumerable orders that pull the exact same tricks and rebuked colleagues who complain about it ... www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

This quote was really bad and there are others equally bad in here, particularly around the seven mountains mandate that this piece represents as normal in an age of an incorporated bill of rights to the states. 1/

As long as your censorship is perceived as anti-left or anti-woke the President of FIRE will promote you as a free speech champion. I love the legal side of FIRE, none better, but the President needs to be fired for aligning that org with hacks and censors.

DOJ briefly uploaded this letter from Jeff Epstein to serial child molester Larry Nassar:

"Pulling the Supreme Court back from the cliff is something progressives should view as far preferable to the alternative—where it may not just be the Court that gets pushed over the edge and into oblivion, but our entire constitutional (and democratic) order."

198. Progressive Judicial Institutionalism
There's important daylight between those who are critical of the present degree of judicial power in the United States in general and those who are critical of the current Supreme Court, specifically.

Bari Weiss: 60 Minutes segment failed to show Government view that CECOT detainees are due judicial review

On right:

Judge Boasberg Dec 22: "The Government itself has not even contested that the detainees who now make up the CECOT class received inadequate process prior to their removal"

When Weiss has lost even this hack, she should think of giving up the “centrist” schtick. But neither her nor Yglesias will as long as the grift sells.
This is some insane shit from Bari Weiss

Massie is talking about inherent contempt, which should be revived, but... I don't think the House can use contempt to coerce compliance with the EFTA statute. That's not obstructing the House as such. The House should first issue a subpoena identical in scope to EFTA and then it can enforce that.

This would all be bad and annoying feedback to get earlier in the process even if she had any business intervening then, which she doesn't. But to yank as big a project as a 60 Minutes story on this basis hours before it was set to air is outright psychotic behavior.
The full Weiss memo is dogshit
-who cares if administration figures “regret” sending people to CECOT
-who cares about the criminal histories of the people we sent to CECOT, we sent them to a torture prison
—who cares about the “debate” over the legality of sending people to a torture prison

Once when we wanted to show the ineffectual dithering of The Good Place Committee, we had one of them say, "There are rules, procedures. This is The Good Place -- we can't just *do stuff.*" We almost didn't include it, because we thought it was a little on the nose.

HUGE NEWS from the new Epstein files:

Records show that Maria Farmer, who worked for Epstein, filed a "child pornography" report to the FBI in 1996.

The FBI has never before acknowledged that complaint. The case went nowhere, and mass abuse followed.
