In 2023 I became obsessed with videos of dads in cargo shortswaiting in parking lots during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. So when she came to town, I grabbed a camera and headed down to talk to them. I thought it'd be funny. It turned out to be something else entirely.

The best part about living near to schools in a city that when we've got Cap and/or Rumba out for their various constitutionals, invariably we'll hear a gasp and a small voice urgently stage-whispering:

"That dog is wearing PAJAMAS!"

And you just KNOW you've become the News of the Day.

Happy winter solstice, everybody! Here's a pic of the sunset that I snapped from my downstairs porch. Hope to have longer and brighter days to come.

Happy Solstice! Not a fan of the dark, so always happy to reach the point where days start getting longer. Spring is just around the corner for those of us in the Northern hemisphere, so here's a happy chickadee for today's #ArtAdventCalendar

Well, it’s been a dark time of late, but that’s what the fire’s for, isn’t it?

Glad Jul, joyous Solstice, and a safe and warm Longest Night to all of you. May the fires of our hearths hold the flame against the cold and dark, and light our way through the shadows.

Happy Solstice one and all. May all our days be lighter and brighter in the coming months.
Celebrating the winter solstice - the shortest day and longest night - with a throwback to camping at Stonehenge under a star-strewn sky, chasing the Geminids ☺️

TOMORROW IS THE WINTER SOLSTICE AND Y'ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. It is time for the women (defined broadly) to hunt the Year King through the woods and tear him apart with their bare hands!

Having a cat is so cool. There is a little creature in my bed who loves me and vibrates like a tiny motorcycle and is so fuzzy and wants to snuggle. How could I want anything else

Urgent need. Asking $1834 so that my disabled mother and myself (also disabled) don’t end up on the streets in a couple months. She’s on oxygen and I’m basically bed-bound.

Clay letters from ancient Mesopotamia are alive with idiom, sayings, and everyday language that I love.

Here are just a few random ones so you can enjoy them too.

As a boy with some Lithuanian descent, I'm definitely yoinking this.
A thread of how to say “nobody asked you” from around the world, starting with this one…

A Lithuanian way of telling someone to mind their own business is ne tavo kiaulės, ne tavo pupos. It means “not your pigs, not your beans.”

This is a really appalling editorial error on BBC Question Time

"Apparently one in three children don't speak English as a first language, why does this matter?"

Chair says "have English as a second language"

Caption changes the meaning entirely
"Don't speak fluent English"
