@shadowtodd.bsky.social People are already comparing The Life of a Showgirl to Oasis's "Be Here Now", where critics are praising it now, but they won't look back on it kindly in hindsight. What do you think?

There is an over abundance of lyrics on "The Life of a Showgirl".

I am going to draw a comic book analogy: it is possible to make a good comic that has well-placed heavy dialogue, but at some point you have to trust the art to tell the story.

@fortullos.bsky.social Do you plan on covering the published Hozier fanfic, "If Not For My Baby"?

I don't think the creator who says she relates to her rapist character the most should be making commentary on Trump, "accidentally" or not

It is imperative that the Internet Archive survives.

@shadowtodd.bsky.social If you haven't already done this for a Song vs. Song yet, I Choose You by Sara Bareilles vs. I Do by Colbie Callait would be a good match up. Two wedding adjacent songs about being skeptical about love only to find the perfect person.

We don’t have basic, actual accessibility accommodations for people with disabilities in public life yet writers are constantly being scolded to “drop the big words to reach as many people as possible.” You can’t make art accessible by creating illiteracy; you can only create misery and compliance.

I didn't think it was a hot take to consider a woman describing a toddler's privates in graphic detail and claim writing that changed the way she saw her own children morally abhorrent, but I guess that's acceptable to some of y'all.

Reminder that IMLS supports Libby and Interlibrary Loan, so if you like things like rural borrowers having the same access as city residents and immunocompromised people being able to still use their library despite ableds demanding libraries open without masks…time to push back.

Putting in my two cents about Tori Woods—
Based on my research, the book falls under Crimes Act 1900 No. 40, Division 15a. The definition being used is 91FB(1d), or "the description or depiction of the private parts of a person who is, appears to be, or is implied to be a child".

i don't disagree with you, but i think it's realistic to ask yourself if this exercise in trauma healing could possibly harm another survivor, and if you think it might but still go through with publication, then the reaction you receive if it DOES harm others is your own responsibility.

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes.

You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment.

My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc.

You just have to decide that allowing a couple seconds of delay for drivers is an acceptable tradeoff for preventing a whole bunch of deaths and injuries. Very few cities accept this tradeoff

Just finished watching this with my wife. Such a good video! What Hoboken is doing is how we save lives. This is what I want Portland to become.
New for the Nebula subs! You wanna see a U.S. city that actually prioritizes people over cars? Yes, such a thing exists, and how they do it is worth digging into.
