I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love.

Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below!

We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Powerful front page from L'Humanité on Jean Marie Le Pen: 'His Profession Was Hatred'. The dagger pictured was recovered at the scene of the brutal torture and murder of Ahmed Moulay in Algiers in 1957. One of multiple pieces of evidence showing Le Pen was a torturer.

Wikipedia is the last major, visible platform for facts that they can’t buy. The attacks are going to be merciless.
Scoop: I obtained a confidential presentation outlining how a major conservative think tanks plans to go after volunteer editors on Wikipedia who it says are "abusing their position" and promoting antisemitism

The conservative think tank told prospective donors that the project was part of its work to combat antisemitism.

JFC, talk about obeying in advance.

Hey, Zuck: You’re a soulless, shameless, obsequious, servile, boot-licking coward.

Today is an object lesson in the radicalisation of the British right-wing press. Britain is being disparaged and insulted by a foreign far-right conspiracy theorist. But the Mail, the Express, the Telegraph and even the Times choose focus their criticisism on the British prime minister instead.

This is the second CNN health article that fuels conspiracy narratives that I've seen in the past few weeks. The first was this one:
CNN just did an interview with a women who "cried" when RFK was nominated, and not for the right reasons. She founded a group called Moms Across America and thinks Kennedy will make us so healthy we won't need healthcare. She doesn't get fact-checked until the 3 minute mark.

North Carolina mom and long-time activist Zen Honeycutt founded “Moms Across America,” a grassroots network that challenges food production and vaccine standards in the US. She tells CNN’s Meena Duers...

Billionaires should not own social media platforms.

Billionaires should not run our newspapers.

Billionaires should not control our politics.

A free media is a democratic media - a public good that is owned and run by us all.

This is a great thread about the challenge Trump and the current moment represent to our established paradigms of analytical method.

It's something I've felt with regard to my own efforts to make sense of global politics and order.

So if your working model of “how do we make the world better,” or at least your personal lever in that direction, has been “study policy as a step toward improving it,” and that lever now feels broken, what do you do?

Tooze knows this, and wrote about it eloquently. His article of 2020 cites Latour on climate denialists and compares it to Arendt on Eichmann: “This is not diplomatic talk. This is an indictment worthy of a climate Nuremberg. Should we engage in diplomacy with people like Eichmann? Of course not”

Every time Alice Weidel says she is defending German national interests she should be asked what the AfD will do if Musk does something that undermines German businesses.

So many Syrians I've known over the years can now return home if they want to.

They now have a choice most of us take for granted.

Amazing days.

I do think it's important to accompany a chart like this with the percentage decrease in turnout, because the hed suggests Trump "increased his support" when the reality is that his support is pretty much the same, and the red lines indicate how many people who voted Biden *did not vote this year*

We Europeans (including the UK) have no time to be depressed, to be angry, or to be scared. Too much time has been wasted over the past two years. No more burying one’s head in the sand, no more hoping for the best. Time to step up. For our security, for Ukraine, for our future.
