A reminder that after years of speaking out against Epstein and giving other survivors the courage to come forward, Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre died by suicide in April at the age of 41.

Let's not forget that there are real human tragedies behind everything we're discussing.
Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein's most prominent abuse survivors, dies by suicide

Even against all of Trump's cascading attacks over the past seven months, it had seemed that up until now, our culture at large—the literal shows, movies, art, music, literature we consume—seemed somewhat siloed from Trump's fury.

But the end of Colbert marks a dark new stage.
Colbert's cancellation is a dark warning
CBS's decision marks a dangerous new stage for the culture at large.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court, via the shadow docket, has greenlighted the DOGE mass firings.

From us at NIH:

The Supreme Court is an arm of Trump and Republican Party.
It is not a court, but a political body. And it must be disempowered if we want functional science in the US. 🧪

A generation of US scientific talent is on the brink of being lost to overseas competitors. according to a @theguardian.com investigation (via @climatedesk.org)
Trump's all-out assault on science constitutes a "mind-boggling own-goal"
Its meddling and arbitrary cuts to staff, programs, and grants are killing an engine of American greatness, insiders say.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Voters have a greater direct impact on mid-term elections, even at the federal level. It's an important thing to keep in mind – if all these evil little homunculi who voted for you to lose your healthcare are replaced, there's a chance the BBB can be overturned or mitigated.
Keep in mind that the cuts to Medicaid don’t go into effect until late 2026 conveniently after the midterm elections. Do not be fooled. Vote these ghouls out. Show up and VOTE in the midterms.

Guidance seems to change daily, and sometimes staff find out that grants have been cut at the same time as PIs. This isn't a good way to run a *business*, let alone a complicated funding entity meant to improve human health and wellbeing.
Exclusive: NIH documents reveal inconsistencies in grant terminations as agency reviews 3200 more
Evidence of agency’s uneven guidance to employees and role of DOGE could play into legal case against cuts

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain.

Donald Trump has committed at least 16 of those same offenses.

SCOOP — ICE employees received an email yesterday telling them the agency's warrantless arrest policy had been rescinded. It's likely part of the Trump administration's efforts to further loosen enforcement restrictions to meet the new quota of 3,000 immigration arrests per day.

My report:
ICE agents get green light to make unjustified warrantless arrests
The agency announced an accountability policy has been rescinded.

This video from Senator Padilla's staff, shared to Twitter by Fox LA's Elex Michaelson, shows Padilla forced to the ground by men wearing FBI uniforms who then handcuff him behind his back. This is after he is forcibly removed from the Noem press conference for asking a question.
