and, not for nothing, there is a further acute moral injury in becoming so used to it all, and so used to it not mattering, that you begin to think of terrible crimes with real victims along the lines of "maybe this will be what hurts him politically"

As I've said, we're in a federally mandated relationship with the worst person you know. That's fucked up.
along with the heinous literal crimes i think a lot about how there's a kind of moral, national crime in subjecting all of us to this, to this consuming our politics, committed against us by a number of powerful and connected people up to and including the president

Once again reminding you that if you just try to objectively report current events in an accurate context, you sound absolutely batshit fucking nuts to anyone who is still invested in pretending we're dealing with "politics as usual."

Reality is already farce.
The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

Let's fix the passive voice and the euphemism:

"[Donald] Trump 'spent' hours with [underage female] [VICTIM][of sex trafficking] at [notorious underage female sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein's] house."
"i want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is trump. [VICTIM] spent hours at my house with him"

"hours"
"spent" "hours"
VICTIM "spent" HOURS
VICTIM "spent" HOURS "with" TRUMP
VICTIM "spent" HOURS "with" TRUMP at *Epstein's* house

I will admit the thing that actually surprises me was when a child sex trafficker asks the writer “how do Ieverage the involvement of the guy who may be president in my child sex trafficking” and the writer gives advice, rather than “I should probably tell someone about this.”

They can make so many bulk/wholesale purchases for the cost of your groceries, folks. I get the urge to make sure something doesn't go to waste, but never go buying food for an operation that can buy their own; it's simpler and more effective for everyone to give money anywhere you can do that!
spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

This would actually have solved like 90% of the stressors that burned me out on my last few jobs. Just being able to rely on other people to have their work fully complete to spec on time would have alleviated so much of my need to compensate and deliver perfection.
Employers are always handwringing about autism accommodations in the workplace and I gotta tell you: ear defenders and quiet workstations are the least of your problems. What autistic people really need is *whispers* for other people to do their actual jobs.

Mark Warner's "leave an opinion" option is working still, at least, so let's fill that right up.

And if Schumer wants to be "leader" I feel like every Democrat can tell him what's what.

Dear @democrats.senate.gov,

HOLD THE F&*^ING LINE. WE ARE WINNING THIS AND YOU WILL SAVE LIVES.

HOLD THE DAMN LINE.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Can't leave Tim a voicemail at this hour, apparently, though he CAN conduct official business and press releases, I guess?

Anyway, imagine giving up after historic wins and tremendous, obvious momentum gathering behind your party.

Once again, Dem Senators clutching defeat from the jaws of victory.

You do not, in fact, have to give the "allegedly" treatment to CLOSING HIS EYES. He did not *appear* to close his eyes, it's just a fact that his eyes were closed.

Appeared *to doze off*, appeared to *pass out*, these are statement you might have to hedge. But his eyes were closed. Full stop.

As someone with a basic understanding of compound interest, human lifespans, and how "ownership" of vehicles has converted to a "how much can you afford per month?" rather than "What's your budget?" model, I'm sure this can only end well.

This might just be the slant of the media I consume, but I swear I have yet to see a candid photo of Kash Patel that doesn't look like a man preparing to explain to his wife why she caught him sneaking out of her sister's home in the middle of the night. Even some official photos, for that matter.

As someone who is friends with adult content creators, and also is an adult who can consume adult content if he so chooses, I am glad to see politicians tell puritanical witch-hunters to fuck off.

If you want to be like Jesus that includes having dinner with sex workers and whipping moneychangers.
Axios tried to bust James Talarico for following adult content creators on Instagram and I'm genuinely impressed by his campaign's response

Interesting analysis here.
KBJ threaded the needle thanks to CA1’s unfinished business.

-if she denied the admin stay, the full SCOTUS woulda stepped in to override her.
-if she immediately referred the case to the full Court, they coulda dragged feet.
-instead she boxed them in to act quickly once she does refer the case.
