Honestly "accepting all the responsibility with none of the authority" is kind of a theme of my life. Part of why the ADHD guy ended up being de facto/de jure "in charge" of so many nerd social groups despite hating both organizing things and being responsible for them.
... Also the flaming burnout.

Hardest part of every job I've ever had has been trying to find the right strong-yet-friendly way to ask someone either pretty please to do their job on time, or pretty please to tell me how late they will be doing their job so I can plan around it, all while having no authority over them at all.

If there's one IP that has always been known for the slavish adherence to a strict and believable continuity, Bond is absolutely not it.

Oh wow, were the GOP not dealing in good faith, even when they were getting absolutely everything they wanted to begin with in exchange for a promise they weren't going to keep for a symbolic vote the Dems wouldn't win?

I for one am shocked - SHOCKED - to hear this completely predictable outcome.

Honestly I have never even tried to make anything more complex than french press and I can ASSURE you that a mediocre barista is more skilled than 90% of the world's c-suite execs.

[Narrator voice] Americans only remembered who GOT their way. And it was not the people who forced the 40 day shutdown and relented when victory was in sight.

I am getting increasing joy out of cheerily responding to the thinly veiled responses.

Anyway, keep a list of any Dems who decide to vote with the GOP in exchange for a promise just like all the promises they've already reneged on all year. Keep it like fucking Arya Stark, folks, and start looking for primary challengers with spines.

People will remember who was willing to fight for them, and who gave up just when SOME concessions were within grasp. Do not be one of the ones remembered for first causing suffering, then ending on the exact same amount of betrayal anyway.

The people are *desperate* for the Democrats to stand up to these bullies and fight tooth and nail to AT LEAST keep the progress we've already made on issues like the ACA. Capitulating now for a promise to HAVE a vote later will cost you literally all the momentum that carried the party on Tuesday.
November 10, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Hey, Tim, tried to leave you a voice message but that's not an option, so, as a constituent: If you gain nothing from this shutdown but a weak promise from the party that has not kept a good-faith promise all year, you have squandered the blue wave we all just achieved.

I love how the Twin Effect is maintained, but the Innocent Baby/Chaos Agent dynamic is also immediately evident.

... what a weird way to put that. If you talked to me about "the university of Goethe" in a context of elitism, I would think Universität Leipzig...
