As I was alluding on this platform about a year ago over a refreshing bowl of Maggi Soup, embedding advertising in natural seeming conversations is pretty inevitable when extracting maximum value from the systems where there are no consumer guard-rails around quality or truth.
The end goal of advertising is to make it indistinguishable from one’s own wants and needs. That aim is finally going to be realized very soon.

I especially feel this when sociologists who study technology do this.

Y'all are supposed to take sociotechnical approaches to the study of technology. A throwaway AI-generated image does not help that credibility.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

This is a powerful read if you want to know how to talk to a person with LC about how they are doing, in a truly genuine way.
"The problem with Long COVID is that most of society would rather not see it. We want to believe the pandemic was just a bad dream we awoke from years ago. (When I hear someone say during COVID, in the past tense, I want to flip a table.)"

Amazon employees in over 30 countries are walking off the job today as part of a global protest called “Make Amazon Pay”.

They’re demanding the company honour workers rights to unionize, improve environmental sustainability and raise wages.

This is the biggest disruption in the company’s history.

Increasingly of the view as this spreads that:

(a) this is a grab for all adults' identity documents so there can be no truly pseudonymous posting as far as the state is concerned; and

(b) states want to be free to indoctrinate Gen AA (or whatever we're calling them) while they're impressionable.

this coalition is being given the most cover and support, maybe in nz history, by media and institutions

People with Long Covid are getting worse and yes, some are passing away. We urgently need help and treatment.
How sad! I have seen so many healthy women in the prime of their lives severely impacted by long Covid.

From being a professional athlete to being in a wheelchair, from being a fun mom to an ill parent who spends their day in their bed in the dark with ice on their head and belly.

It’s awful!
Brazilian singer Eva Rodrigues Praia Walkey, 40, has died after nearly 5 years battling severe Long COVID. She faced repeated hospitalisations, grueling treatment, and never regained her health. Her family confirmed she passed away on 18 November in Manaus, Brazil.
