I am telling you once more that there is something particularly sick about people who benefited from the courageous activism of previous generations of Blacks & Asians in Britain spitting on that legacy. Home Office can cancel me any number of times, I'll keep repeating

The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

Cost of abolishing university tuition fees = £17bn

Cost of making care homes free = £8.3bn

Cost of making trains free to use = £11bn

Cost of hitting net zero = £30.7bn

The annual cost of the above is £67bn, which happens to be the amount of money given in tax relief to the richest 20% of the UK.

PFI deals signed under Tony Blair left the NHS without enough money to treat patients, while private investors made billions in profits.

Wes Streeting's plans to bring back private finance in our NHS MUST be stopped.

A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

The only party with a moral compass
The Greens don’t believe providing safe refuge for endangered asylum seekers is an “out-of-control” policy.

Nor do we believe making life more difficult for those in need is the way to unify British society.

Refugees are welcome.

The thing to understand is that there is a particular contingent within Labour who assess their own performance not based on the support they get from the right (which will always be, basically, none) but on how much they repulse the left. So they turn into Reform, without actually getting votes.

Every time a new record low is polled I say it will go lower.
And every time it does.
It will go lower
📊 NEW | As Labour announces fresh crackdown on refugees, their approval falls to an all-time low.

✅ Satisfied – 11% (-1)
❌ Dissatisfied – 82% (-)

Old enough to remember Labour home secretary David Blunkett restricting asylum seekers’ right to work in the first place as part of this racist doom spiral that has been going on for decades
Indeed, and it’s not like this is the first example of performance art cruelty, is it. Let’s look up the Wiki page for Home Secretaries of the 2000s, for example. Does this tell us anything about this mode of politics?

People arriving here by small boat are desperate, often traumatised. Latest figures are 68% of boat arrivals granted asylum (see link)

The idea of the govt stripping people of their valuables & then hawking it off literally makes me sick to my stomach

Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

This is a new low from a govt plumbing the depths of performative cruelty in hopes that the public won’t notice they have no answers to the real issues facing this country

A sensible, humane govt would focus on safe routes to prevent people making dangerous small boat crossings

This vividly demonstrates the problem with rightwing “centrist” regimes.

“Moralising” is “tedious” to them. Their policy decisions are never taken on principled or moral grounds, morality is non-existent in the Starmer regime & its apologists.

No wonder @zackpolanski.bsky.social is doing so well!

Tories and Labour's collusion on freeports and SEZs would form stepping stones for charter cities.
