This is interesting. You know how, on the right, there are all these groups that create "model legislation" conservatives in state legislatures can simply lift off the shelf & adopt? ALEC and so forth?

Here's an effort to do that for good climate laws:
Columbia University plans to steal a page from the conservative playbook
Columbia University and New York activists are launching the “Model Climate Laws Initiative” to draft state laws countering Trump administration rollbacks.

the horror of being shamed into doing your job
Fetterman tells the NYT that doing committee work and casting floor votes is “performative” and that he is resentful to have been “shamed” into returning to the Senate to do these things after routinely skipping them all year.

Zeldin says the mission of EPA is to "lower the cost of buying a car, heating a home and running a business." That is false, not as a matter of ideology or political preference, but as a matter of law.

This is pure authoritarian "up is down" stuff.

Pointing out the obvious: the objective of this effort is to degrade the capacity of USPS, and thereby degrade its performance, and thereby bolster arguments for privatization.

They want to kill public institutions, public goods, public spaces, the very notion of a public.

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

Saying that Merrick Garland is a disgrace and a major disappointment is an understatement, he’s one of the biggest failures to democracy in the modern era. A treasonous convicted felon is going to have full power of the US govt because he refused to hold him accountable.

some people are really still doing Merrick Garland's PR huh.

Trump should give him the Medal of Freedom (because thanks to Garland, Trump is free)
BREAKING: Merrick Garland began investigating Trump and the coup the week he got to the DoJ. It was actually Trump holdovers in the FBI that were reluctant to investigate.

Actually it’s not breaking. It came out in March. But cable news decided not to tell you. www.nytimes.com/2024/03/22/u...

I'm jealous that this isn't my story, bc Jeffries allowing the Dems to ditch their zombie chairmen is really significant.

David Scott had no business seeking re-election, and it's big that the CBC, incredibly loyal, is not stopping competition for his Ag role.

This is why I get so frustrated with “nonpartisan” redistricting. It’s never actually nonpartisan, and it only ever seems to be done places that disadvantage Democrats.
Dems likely would’ve won the House 218-217 if the GOP hadn’t gained 3 seats by re-gerrymandering North Carolina.

GOP gerrymandered 3x more districts than Dems did nationally.

GOP in Congress unanimously blocked efforts to end gerrymandering in 2019 & 2021. GOP Supreme Court justices did so in 2019

What did he get? Nothing. So here he goes.
