Spoiler alert…

The name left on the prayer card on the Reform bench was SMITH

I asked the doorkeeper to check the list for any new defections but he was as bemused as me…

So either a defection in the offing or someone changing their name overnight. Not long to wait and see who sits in that seat 🕵🏻
Apparently there’s a rogue prayer card on the reform bench this morning, possibly signalling another defection at PMQs…

Anyone want to guess on who is the latest traitor to be unmasked??

"not a restaurant, more a nutritional correctional facility"

Very grateful for this recommended read from the FT's Inside Politics newsletter. Invective to brighten up my Friday afternoon.

Mind the Rant: Why are all lunch options now shit? What’s a Farmer J?
There is a noticeable trend in London. The rise of the ‘almost lunch’, a terminal disappoint that we should all riot against. Welcome to the rise of Farmer J and the ‘almost meal’.

Ukraine is on the brink of an historic betrayal by Trump to Putin.

Keir Starmer must bring our European allies together to back Zelensky, starting by seizing frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

LDs vs Reform is a logical two party system organised around identity and value divides, class and education divides, and Brexit. Labour being in government now (and Cons being tainted by recent toxic government) provide an opening.

Not the most likely outcome perhaps but far from impossible.

Today is Yom Kippur, the holiest of days in Judaism.
It’s appalling that this community appears to have been targeted.
Anti-Semitism is utterly unacceptable.

This thread is spot-on, especially on the constitutional/legal points.
🧵 Several people have raised questions about what I meant by "deservedly so" when referring to the decline of institutional trust. It's a fair question, so I want to explain that, because it sits at the heart of my work on how democracies collapse when their epistemic foundations rot.
The conditions that have led to what’s happening in the US today exist in democracies around the world.
They are an inevitable outcome of our collective failure to adapt to fundamental changes in the information ecosystem on which our democracies were originally built.
