in 2015 among those predicting autonomous driving (expert or no), all of them absolutely felt trucking would be first before passenger. lidar's limitations w/the vast braking distances has been a tough nut to crack. also why Waymo on-highway trips are still for Waymo employees only
It's fascinating to me that there's a whole "AI skeptic" misinformation ecosystem out there that somehow continues to deny that Waymo exists. Like, this is easy to fact check! Waymo runs publicly-available service in 5 cities, you can just go look up how it works and see it's not planned routes!

Back in 2020, Zohran Mamdani responded to a post of mine on a bill that’d have entirely repealed felony disenfranchisement, including allow people to vote from prison, by endorsing the idea: “the right to vote is inalienable.”

This is one of the first articles I have seen that explains how, in a financial system like that of China (or Japan's in the 1990s), lower interest rates may actually reduce consumption rather than boost it.

I have been hearing from people that they have been having issues accessing their Social Security accounts. INSTEAD of going to a branch which may be hundreds or 1Ks+ of miles away from you, call your members of Congress. They have constituent services that will help you regain access. Please share!

As long as the Trump Admin doesn't say the word "impoundment", they don't actually have to spend the EV or broadband money

I call this "Biden-poundment": Just sit on the f***ing money for 4 years

Just say you need to continue Dem best practices & restart NEPA environmental review

Not the first person to make this observation, but it's so striking how the media covered the crack epidemic as a problem caused by black/urban drug users and the fentanyl epidemic as a problem imposed externally on white/rural drug users.

The problem was there was an unusual surge in gold imports (due to tariff threats), and the underlying data wasn't released until later. GDPNow will adjust at the next release. GDPnow is an excellent GDP tracker and will likely turn positive at the next release on March 17th but still be very low
