This seems like the most straightforward and also basically accurate message.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Unlike you, I can read and that’s why I know what the constitution says.
Trump on Ilhan Omar: "I look at somebody who comes from Somalia...and she comes in and tells us how to run our country. 'The Constitution says this, the Constitution says that.' The whole thing is crazy."

Let’s also not forget that Nakadai was the first guy who got to gush an absolute geyser of blood in a samurai movie, a happy accident that became a trope.

(this short interview with Nakadai is delightful)

In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

His reply was a doozy.

Mike Flanagan seems to have deleted the Bluesky thread where he talks about bad Netflix notes; but this SlashFilm article preserves his thoughts. I think about his anecdote whenever there's a story about producers/networks fretting over potential audience confusion. www.slashfilm.com/1338935/mike...

Never has there been a case of more "good fucking riddance," but it's not unamusing that they're hightailing it right after the first snow storm hit. Chicago has a built-in defense against unserious jagoffs and it's called winter.

I mean, the big second act suspense/action set piece is, "There is a spider."
Watching DR. NO. This appears to be a movie about a fairly handsome man doing his job in a mostly competent manner. Wild to think that something this low-key begat...you know...James Bond.

Another species no longer on the global Endangered list:
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae).

A few decades after a Star Trek movie where the central conflict was the total extinction of the humpback, their numbers are rising fast enough to put them at "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List.

Her: "Do anything fun for Halloween?"

Me: "I had a buddy over and watched some scary movies."

Her: "Oh, what's your favorite scary movie?"

Me: "ALIEN."

Her: "What's that about?"

Me: "...an alien."

Thrilling saga with Junichi Okada as a warrior in a deadly race across Japan gives a new perspective on a sadistic premise we’ve seen before.

Every secondhand James Cameron story sounds like dialogue from 'ARCHER.'

"Awesome guy. We watched Anime together. Also, that time my dad was kidnapped? I called him, he sent me $1 Million and a negotiator. The Marines said he wanted to ride along for the extraction, too - that guy loves to party!"
Y'know, it makes perfect sense that Guillermo del Toro and James Cameron were roommates who introduced each other to Patlabor and Battle Angel Alita.
