💥WIN: Victory in landmark case on gender recognition

Am so proud to have worked on this case, and to work for an org which fights for - and successfully defends - trans rights.

"A huge victory for trans people’s human rights in this country, at a moment where things have felt particularly dark."
WIN: Victory in landmark case on gender recognition
High Court rules that a trans man cannot be denied a Gender Recognition Certificate because he is trying to conceive, in an important win supported by Good Law Project.

We have heard that the Green Party has passed a motion at conference calling for desegregation of trans healthcare and to end the practice of GICs and to move it to primary care.

And you can definitely see why they voted for it here:

Because I've seen some prominent cis allies saying that they hope Streeting's most recent words are a good sign: this is the entire point - he's always got some reasonable sounding words to placate cis people as he continues to meet with transphobic bigots and enact brutally transphobic policies.
Just for clarity: Wes Streeting is an bald-faced quisling, whose rights as a cis gay man wouldn't exist without the struggles and sacrifice of the trans and gender diverse people who came before him. If you believe him now I have a bridge to sell you.
In an "olive branch" Streeting defended everything he did to strip healthcare from young trans people as right and justified and said absolutely nothing about any way he'd move away from that targeted campaign to eradicate trans people.

Come ON @theguardian.com. This is atrocious.

Our methodological critique of The Cass Review has been peer-reviewed published & is therefore way more authoritative than Cass which is un-peer-reviewed.

Streeting/Starmer can no longer claim Cass is “gold standard” or “landmark”.

Cass is just junk science.

This has stayed with me overnight:

• Parliament know that what’s going on is unethical.

• This was just as obvious when Wee Streeting’s ban was put in place.

• This is the real scandal of Cass: a generation of trans kids being subjected to pointless and unethical medical testing
Giordano states there's a major risk in the NHS breaking all ethical guidelines including the Helsinki declaration for a trial.

Making treatment only available thru a trial breaks consent guidelines.

All of the ethical issues risk biasing the trial substantially via skewing the study sample.
