In general it’s fine to post “we’re fucked” on your own account because you might feel that way and it might be therapeutic to say how bad everything is, but it’s not fine to reply “we’re fucked” to everyone and everything because that might not be what other people need to hear all the time

There should be an extra public holiday dedicated to the inventor of AC.

Hottest day of the year, everybody gets off work.

the FIFA Club World Cup is, among other things, an attempt to extract legitimacy and financial gain from something people care a lot about. it's a blatant attempt to normalize pernicious things like pronouncing "DAZN" as "da zone" and you don't have to participate

What the FUCK
This line is going to stick with me for a very long time.

“One of them is a 4-year-old with Stage 4 cancer who was deported without medication or the ability to contact their doctors…”
Three U.S. citizens, ages 2, 4 and 7, swiftly deported from Louisiana
The cases have renewed concerns that the Trump administration’s expedited deportations are violating the rights of both citizens and noncitizens.

One of the wilder political things in recent history is that Project 2025 publicly released a 900 page document laying out their plans to roll back 100 years of human progress and then during the campaign Republicans just said "no we're not :)" and then they won and now they're doing it all.

A lot of people in power are demonstrating that they don’t actually believe in the premise of the Declaration of Independence or the republic as a concept. They believe that some people are created superior, and it is offensive and wrong for superiors to live bound by the needs of those below them.

Criminals deserve due process because due process is literally how we determine whether someone is, *in fact*, a criminal

Jesus Christ. Guys, this dude is President of the United States.
Trump has fully turned on Zelenskyy: "He's always looking to purchase missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you gotta know you can win a war. You don't start a war against somebody that's 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles."

Yup
The biggest three drivers in your life where you realize politics affect you are high school, graduating college/joining the workforce, and buying a house/starting a family, and the average Millennial experience lines those up with 9/11, the 2008 financial crisis and COVID in perfect order
Jesus Christ can’t you people just let millennials express some entirely deserved outrage and anger over getting hit with yet another major financial crisis without parachuting in to finger wag at us about it

There is an article to be written about how the primary currency of conservatism is abuse. It’s about who you abuse to get more power, how you abuse that power once you get it, abusing people who help you keep that power, & abusing people with the power you have, then going home to abuse your family

And, to be clear, it's almost certainly happening *because* the base has been screaming for action from elected Democrats.

This isn't "relax, they've got this." This is "keep yelling, it's working."
Btw, that means in the last 24 hours we've had:

-Cory Booker going for a record in holding the floor
-Ruben Gallego putting a hold on VA nominees over cuts to veterans care
-Adam Schiff putting a hold on Ed Martin's nomination for DC US attorney over... a lot

That's a genuinely good start.

yall we can’t collectively screech that “no one’s doing anything!” and then say “no not like that” when someone actually does something.

is Booker’s filibuster gonna save the world? of course not. but since courage begets courage it could lead to more. I’m fucking cynical as hell but come on.
