30 years.
Today, Molli & I have been together for 30 years. ❤ We’ve been friends for even longer.

There were folks who didn’t think we’d last—a lot of high school sweethearts don’t—but when you know, you know.

Love you for eternity, @blahpers.bsky.social 🩵

I finally had a moment to breathe long enough to write Riley's eulogy. It felt good to write my thoughts about my almost two decades with my space pirate. It's still rough thinking about him (and DiNozzo) without tears.

O'Riley – RAVEN OAK
A eulogy for O'Riley Oak, the bestest pirate cat that ever lived, aka eternal kitten and Captain Riley. Where do I even start?

Molli and I have been walking out to the pier and hanging out there for a bit each afternoon to take in the ducks and geese and other birds. Occasionally a fish jumps up from the lake. It's a reminder that life continues, even after loss, and the sun has been nice. 1/

Just got my copy of this anthology I’m in, full of stories written by other cancer survivors.

My story is a new one I wrote days after my diagnosis—a near-future sci-fi story about holding onto love during the darkest of days. It’s called “The Things We Do for Love during the Apocalypse.”

Malley is happily soaking up some sunbeams. He’s really happy because Molli & I slept in & didn’t go rushing off to an appt. The lake is calm but I saw a duck land earlier & the rooster has crowed a few times. For the first time since moving, I feel relaxed. The shot yesterday didn’t hurt. ;)

Got jabbed in the neck today as I got the stellate ganglion block Molli had a few months ago to help long-C0VID induced anxiety.

Feeling very tired and weird so sleepy time today. Lots of chillin’.

Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.

It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Happy Birthday to my bestest friend, @merisand.bsky.social — I hope your day is filled with kitty snuggles and sunshine, and less ice/snow! <3

My friend has a few emails to places & Facebook posts out, but I'm boosting again since time is of the essence due to my friend's health. The gist: very loved, playful kitty caused my very sick friend to have a bad fall, her immediate circle wants the kitty gone now. Pic of the kitty downthread.
My friend is really concerned about her 1 year old cat's safety. She's having serious health issues, can't drive, & her very limited local support network is trying to get her to just put the cat outside. Anyone know any rescue/fosters for a kitty in Montgomery County,TX??

As long as we’re both home, Malley is enjoying this place. He’s had more nightmares of late and I know he’s feeling the loss of his brother, not to mention his home, but he’s hanging in there, as are we.

The fog on the lake this AM made the pier look like it was floating in the sky instead of on water.

While I don’t like the circumstances that forced us to leave our home, these temporary digs are really nice.

The cabin is TINY (think Rainforest Writers’ Retreat main cabin for those who know) and rustic AF, but the views…

At 5:04 PM today, the movers finished loading 95% of our worldly good into the trucks & drove away. We’ll see it all again in a few months.

Gotta go back to the house a few more times for contractors but technically, we’ve moved. The house will be listed by the end of the month.

Good luck us!

So many boxes happening.

Malley is still curled up with Molli at the cabin. I’m just watching memories go into boxes. 😉

We were supposed to be at the cabin already because the movers come to the house at 8 AM.

We didnt get everything done in time. Spending the night at the house with 1 pillow and some random blanket until morning. 1/

Saw many friends today who came and helped with some home fixing stuff and boxing. Loading up the car with the first batch of stuff to go to temp housing. Moving has begun.

Son of a bitch.

We are unable to move anywhere without someone having an injury.

Molli broke her toe. *facepalm*

Moving to temp housing will be interesting. I’m glad we have friends who are already helping with other tasks.

At least it wasn’t me this time! ;)

Memories while Moving #6:

Finding the barnyard animals buzzers I bought for use at Anglicon, a British/Doctor Who convention. We used them for the QI game show I think.
These buzzers still work…annoyingly.

Memories while Moving #1:

Finding a million lanyards and various scraps of stuff in bags left over from conventions.

Posting a few pics of the tiny cabin we'll be living in while we try to sell our house. It's a beautiful forest/lake area and I'm hoping the quiet beauty gives us time to decompress and grieve. We have so much to grieve...

Riley & DiNozzo would've loved all the wildlife through those big windows.
